Douglas Ashley Benner, 36, of 666 Old County Road, Rockland, died Dec. 7, at Penobscot Bat Medical Center, Rockland, after a lengthy illness of two years. He was born in Waldoboro on July 18, 1955, the son of Otis and Gladys (Cushman) benner, and was a 1974 graduate of Medomak Valley High School there. He married Wendy Ellen Pires in Camden on May 12, 1984. Benner worked at Penobscot Bay Medical Center from 1977 until 1991 in the housekeeping department and also in central supply. He loved music and dancing. He was a member of Rockland Lodge of Elks. In addition to his wife of Rockland and his parents of Waldoboro, he is survived by two daughters, Amy and Maria Benner of Friendship, two brothers, Bryan and Craig Benner and a sister Emily Benner, all of Waldoboro; a grandson, Douglas J Benner of Friendship; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sat., Dec. 14, at Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church, corner of US Route One and Waldo Avenue, Rockland.
