| 5301 | Richard Allan Hoffses, 81, of Bangor, passed away on Jan. 3, 2024 of congestive heart failure at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was born on Aug. 26, 1942 in York, to Ralph and Gertrude Hoffses, who both predeceased him. Following graduation from Waldoboro High School he studied electrical engineering at the University of Maine and later studied voice at New England Conservatory. He met his partner of 35 years, Paul Howe (who predeceased him in 2020) while both were working at the Boston Music Co. They moved from Brookline, Mass. to Waldoboro to care for Richard's aunt Ruby Hoffses. Upon his return to Maine, Richard worked for Fisher Engineering. He is survived by siblings, Norma Dodge and husband, Kenneth, Keith and partner, Diane Manteca, Russell Hoffses and wife, Sharon; many nieces and nephews; members of the Howe family; and numerous friends. Richard enjoyed physics, geology, simulated flying, playing the piano, singing, and classical music. He was also civic minded as he was a member of the Waldoboro Communications and Technology Committee and the Sweetland Cemetery Committee. He and Paul were members of NESPRS (New England Society for the Preservation of Recorded Sound). A celebration of life will be held later this year during warmer weather. | 5302 | Richard C. "Dick" Lotz, 75, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at a local hospital. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Richard was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Arthur and Glada Cameron Lotz, both deceased. He grew up in Hamilton, Ohio, and graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a degree in journalism. Richard married Shirley Faye Johnson on July 17, 1954. They had three children. The family moved to the Fort Worth area in 1964. He obtained his CPA, working for Weaver and Tidwell before establishing his own CPA practice. He retired several years ago. Richard and Shirley were married for 53 years before her death in 2007. Survivors: Daughter, Kim A. Kamin and husband, David, of Richland Hills; their children, Matthew D. Kamin and Taylor R. | 5303 | Richard Jackson Vollrath died on March 15, 2006. He was born at home on July 5, 1922 to Florence and Walter Vollrath Sr. Richard attended Lincoln School, and graduated from Central High in 1940. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from Yale University in 1944. Richard joined the Navy after graduation, and was commissioned a lieutenant J.G. When he left the Navy he was the commanding officer of the minesweeper YMS449. Richard entered the family business after his military service and worked at the Polar Ware Company for forty-three years. He sold his interest in the company in 1988 and he and his sons started Vicom Ltd., where he served as Chairman. In 1948 he married "the finest woman I ever met," Jean Law-rence, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, who preceded him in death on August 27, 2000. He is survived by four children, Christopher; Eric (Patricia Scheibel); Barbara Merriett (Stanley); and Heidi Kendall (Patrick); four grandchildren, Barnabas Kendall (Maki Teraoka); Molly Kendall; Gretchen Vollrath-Sharkey (Jason); Martha Vollrath and her fiancée Matt Mathiason; one great-grandchild, Tristan Kazumi Kendall; a sister, Mary Garton; a brother, Walter Vollrath, Jr.; many nieces and nephews; and his loyal pal, Balu, man's best friend. He was active in civic affairs as a volunteer with Planned Parenthood, the Boy Scouts and the Sheboygan YMCA, and was a member of the Sheboygan Yacht Club and Pine Hills Country Club. Richard loved hunting, fishing, golf, traveling, Thursday lunches and summers at Elkhart Lake. He enjoyed all he did with a joie de vivre that was infectious. Richard's philosophy on life was pretty straightforward - "I think a sense of humor is absolutely necessary to enjoyment of life. Life can be a lot of fun if you let it be fun. Also, I'm an optimist. Being an optimist doesn't mean I'm not a realist. I just don't see much sense in being sure everything is going to go wrong and feeling miserable all the time. You may as well be happy until the worst happens. Then you handle it and move on to something else." He also said, "I'm glad I was born in Sheboygan and that I have basically spent all my life here. I've known lots of people and have good friends and family, and there is no greater blessing than that. My one wish for the whole world is, of course, peace, and I believe that day will come." | 5306 | RICHTER COURTLAND D. PERRY, 2. 1936–2007 AUGUSTA – Courtland D. Perry 2., 70, aus Augusta, starb plötzlich am 6. April 2007 in seinem Winterhaus in Venice, Florida. Er wurde am 28. Juli 1936 in Portland als Sohn von Oscar und Arene (Winslow) Perry geboren. Er wuchs in Portland auf und absolvierte die Deering High School. Richter Perry erblindete im Alter von 16 Jahren durch einen Unfall beim Spielen mit einer Dynamitkapsel. Sein lebenslanger Freund Don Christie unterstützte ihn unermüdlich und half ihm durch diese schwere Zeit. Nach seiner Genesung besuchte er das Perkins Institute for the Blind, um seine Unabhängigkeit zu erlangen und Braille zu lernen, was ihm eine weitere Ausbildung ermöglichte. | 5307 | Riet Stonger was born Maria Johanna Knetsch on April 5, 1938, in Leiden, The Netherlands. In 1955, when she was 17, her family immigrated to the USA, settling in Wichita, where Riet lived the remainder of her life. Riet died on April 13, 2015, in El Dorado, Kansas. For some years after arriving in the US, Riet worked as a keypunch operator for KG&E in Wichita. In 1961 she married Roelof Bos, who also came from The Netherlands. Roelof worked for Chance Manufacturing in Wichita for many years. Two children blessed their marriage: Marsha and Roger. Riet married Ray Stonger in 1987. Both Roelof and Ray preceded her in death. As a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Wichita, Riet became increasingly involved in church work and ministries. She went on to complete the Course of Study at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, earning her License as Local Pastor. She served as Pastor of the following United Methodist churches: Wichita Cedar Chapel, Haviland, and Douglass/Rock. Retiring in 2003, Riet remained active in the ministries of Central United Methodist Church in Wichita. Riet was preceded in death by her parents, Reinier and Maria Knetsch of Wichita. She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Bos, and grandchildren, Breonna and Colt; son, Roger Bos, his spouse Gaitrie, and grandchildren, Ilona and R.J.; brother, Piet Knetsch and spouse, Dottie (Shivaun, Alexis, Tori); brother, Rene Knetsch and spouse, Lynne Glaeske. Rita was born on March 12, 1938 in Friendship to Floyd Wotton and Adeline (Creamer) Wotton. She attended local schools, graduating from Waldoboro High School and she attended two years at Gates Business School. Rita married John Stahl on Oct. 10, 1959. They celebrated 40 years of marriage prior to his death in 2000. Rita worked as a bookkeeper for Hadley Miller, Dr. Henry Bither, the Deerskin Shop, and Weston’s Hardware, and also as an aide at Medomak Valley High School. She enjoyed visiting with people when she could, and volunteering at the Waldoboro Methodist Church when she was able. Her Christian faith was a significant source of guidance, comfort and strength throughout her life. She especially enjoyed children and animals. Rita was considered a second mother to several of her children’s childhood friends. Rita was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Adeline Wotton; husband, John Stahl; and sisters, Janice Wotton and Marilyn Burkett. She is survived by daughters, Wanda J. Stahl of Westbrook, and Karen M. Stahl of Westbrook; son, John L. Stahl of Westbrook; and granddaughters, Caitlin Stahl-Hodgkins of Boston, Mass., and Marissa Stahl-Hodgkins of Westbrook. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Sat., Jan. 19 at the Waldoboro Methodist Church in Waldoboro with Rev. Bob Dorr officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Dutch Neck Cemetery. | 5313 | Robbinston - William Nelson Pulk Sr., 74, passed away surrounded by his family Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Calais Regional Hospital. Billy was born on March 28, 1943, son of Raymond Pulk Sr. and Mary (Skidds) Pulk. He started driving truck in Boston at the age of 15 until returning to Eastport where he worked at Mearl Corp. On January 25, 1964, Billy married his love, Sandra Chisholm. Shortly after he started his career with Georgia Pacific, retiring as a boiler engineer with 42 years of service. Billy was a member of the Quarter Century Club at GP, served as President of Calais High School Sports Boosters Club, President of the local union at GP, enjoyed many years coaching little league, and served as Captain for Calais Fire Dept. Red Beach Station. An avid outdoorsman, Billy loved hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp on Nash’s Lake. One of his most enjoyable pastimes was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Gladys Ramsdell, Raymond Pulk Jr., Lillian Seeley, Ruthie Anderson, and Sharon Ackerman; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Marion Chisholm. Joseph, John, Moses) the son of Dr. Hugh Ludwig Simmons and Alice Emily (Maloney) Simmons, was born at Worcester, Mass., February 26, 1930. He attended North High School, and was graduated from Worcester Academy in 1947, and from Tufts College, A.B. degree with a major in Econ¬ omics, 1951. While at Tufts College he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and represented his chapter of the fraternity at its National Summer Convention in 1950. He was a member of his fraternity swimming team, and of the Newman Club. He has worked and traveled in the middle-west of the United States. Robert Allan Simmons comes from old New England families of Maine and Massachusetts. He is descended from Stephen Hopkins, Thomas Rogers, Richard War¬ ren, and from seventeen others of the Mayflower pas¬ sengers 1620. He is also descended from Rev. James MacGregor, a Scot-Irish immigrant to New Hamp¬ shire in 1719, who was educated at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and was the first Presbyterian min¬ ister at Londonderry, N. H., and from the William Moody family of Newbury, Mass., and from the Nor¬ ton, Whipple and Goodhue families of Ipswich, Mass. Among his ancestors are Capt. Abiel Pierce of the Revolutionary War and Col. James Simmons of the War of 1812. He is also a distant cousin of Esther Min¬ erva Simmons (Mrs. Thomas A. Baxendale) who es¬ tablished the Baxendale Memorial Foundation at Har¬ vard University, and of John Simmons, the founder of Simmons College, Boston. Mass., and of James Fowler Simmons, U. S. Senator from Rhode Island, 1841-1847 and 1857-1862. One of his cousins on his mother’s side is studying (1952) Psychology and the Biologic Sciences at Clark University in preparation for the study of medicine, thus carrying on the family profession (on both sides) of Doctor of Medicine. | 5319 | Robert Edwin Buehl, 93, stolzer Bauer, begeisterter Gesprächspartner und Patriarch seiner Familie, verließ dieses Leben am Sonntagabend, dem 30. Juni 2019, im Monroe Clinic Hospital. Bob, ein Bewohner der Glarner Lodge in New Glarus, wurde am 30. Januar 1926 in MonroeTownship als erstes Kind von Edwin und Clara (Teuscher) Buehl geboren. Er lebte die meiste Zeit seiner Zeit auf der Milchviehfarm der Familie in Mount Pleasant Township, zuerst als Jugendlicher, später als Mieter und dann als Besitzer des Gehöfts in der Marshall Bluff Road. Er besuchte das Primrose Center und die Zentner Rural Schools und absolvierte 1943 die Monticello High School. Bob heiratete Ruth Carol Woodward am 14. Januar 1946 in Brodhead, Wisconsin. Zunächst bewirtschaftete das Paar als Mieter in Mount Pleasant Township, wo sie ihre Familie gründeten. 1952 zog das Paar auf Bobs Kinderfarm, die Stauffacher Farm in der Nähe von Monticello; Sie kauften die Farm im Jahr 1957. Er könnte wahrscheinlich jede Straße und Nebenstraße in Green County maßgeblich benennen und genau angeben, wer auf den verschiedenen Gehöften, an denen er vorbeiging, lebte oder lebte. Bob war ein aktiver Bürger, der mehrere Amtszeiten im Mount Pleasant Town Board, als Schatzmeister des Fire Board und als Weed Commissioner für einen Großteil von Green County innehatte. | 5324 | Robert “Buddy Bob” Leslie Hannan, Sr., 69, of Waldoboro, passed away on Aug. 4 at his home. Robert was born on Jan. 19, 1939 in Danvers, Mass., a son of the late Ivory and Marie Philbrook Hannan. He grew up in Thomaston and attended local schools there. For many years he was employed at National Sea Products in the Shipyard Division as a spray painter, retiring in 1991. He was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan who never missed a race. He belonged to a bowling league in Rockland where he bowled at the Oakland Lanes. He enjoyed constructing models and watching and feeding birds; especially humming birds. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, dancing and playing his tambourine. He could be found going on stage, with a band he may or may not have known, and playing with them. He was very proud of his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He adored his cat, “Spooky”, a.k.a. “Itty Buddy”. He was a man with great faith who attended the Word of Life Church when his health allowed him to attend. He loved to listen to gospel music. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He enjoyed sharing his jokes and could always keep you laughing. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Norman and Bernard Hannan. | 5328 | ROCKLAND - Am 1. Mai 2023 verließ uns Barbara Hill, 76, nach einem langen, tapferen Kampf gegen den Krebs friedlich im The Sussman House in Rockport. Barbara liebte Kinder. Neben der Erziehung von drei Töchtern und einem Stiefsohn sowie der aktiven Teilnahme am Leben ihrer Enkel und Urenkelin widmete sie ihre Karriere der Bildung und dem Wohlergehen von Kindern. Sie war freundlich, fürsorglich und hatte einen unvergleichlichen, frechen Sinn für Humor, den wir schmerzlich vermissen werden. Barbara wurde am 9. Oktober 1946 in Rockland als Tochter von Horatio "Zeke" und Margaret Gray Torfason geboren. Als Kind besuchte sie die Rockland Schools und machte 1964 ihren Abschluss an der Rockland District High School. Anschließend besuchte sie das Gorham State Teachers College in Gorham, Maine, und machte dort 1968 ihren Abschluss. Nach dem College wurde sie die erste nicht-katholische Lehrerin an einer katholischen Schule in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Nachdem sie einige Zeit damit verbracht hatte, ihre Familie in Massachusetts großzuziehen, zog sie zurück nach Rockland, wo sie an der Head Start im benachbarten Union unterrichtete und ihre Karriere als Fallmanagerin bei Sweetser in Rockland beendete. Barbara war auch ein hingebungsvolles Mitglied der Zeugen Jehovas. A lifelong Rockland resident, "Gram" considered herself a 'homebody', who enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Winslow-Holbrook-Merritt American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 1 of Rockland. Predeceased by her husband Elbert M. | 5330 | ROCKLAND — Gerald „Wink" L. Winchenbach, 84, starb friedlich am Donnerstag, dem 5. November 2020, im Knox Center for Long Term Care, wo er seit Februar 2020 lebte. Wink wurde am 8. August 1936 in Rockland als fünftes von acht Kindern von Frank und Maude (Leach) Winchenbach geboren. Gerald arbeitete viele Jahre als Kraftstofflieferant, bevor er 2007 bei der ehemaligen Webber Oil Co. in den Ruhestand ging. Er werkelte gern in seiner Werkstatt, angelte und verbrachte gerne Zeit in seiner Hütte. Wir werden ihn als lebenslustigen Mann in Erinnerung behalten, der einen guten Witz, ein gutes Essen und ein Nickerchen zu schätzen wusste. Er besaß außerdem die Geduld und das Talent, den Zauberwürfel zu lösen. Vorverstorben sind seine Eltern, seine Schwester Barbara Nystrom, sein Bruder Clayton Winchenbach sowie seine beiden Schwäger James Bonner und William Nystrom. | 5331 | ROCKLAND — Joan M. Winchenbach, ehemals aus Warren, starb friedlich am 9. Februar 2025, ihrem 95. Geburtstag. Joan wurde in Wareham, Massachusetts, als Tochter von Arthur L. und Alma Rondelli Kenney geboren. Joan lernte ihren Mann Clayton bei einem Besuch in Maine mit seiner Schwester Lois kennen. Sie heirateten kurz darauf und waren 63 Jahre lang bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 2020 verheiratet. Die ersten beiden Ehejahre verbrachten sie in ihrem rustikalen Camp am Lermond Pond, der bis heute ein besonderer Treffpunkt für die Familie ist. Joan sah sich in erster Linie als Hausfrau, tat aber auch vieles andere. Sie und Clayton kauften 1971 den Village Market in Warren, und Joan half über 20 Jahre lang bei der Führung des Geschäfts. Nach ihrer Pensionierung eröffneten sie im selben Gebäude ein Antiquitätengeschäft. Sie engagierte sich außerdem sehr in der Gemeinde als Leiterin des Payson Park Committee, eines Teils der Warren Historical Society, der Georges River Canal Association und des Warren Day Committee. Joan und Clayt gehörten zu einem engen Freundeskreis, der Kasserole Group, und unternahmen mit ihnen viele Abendessen, Kartenspiele, Kanufahrten und Reisen. Joan war zehn Jahre lang Gebietsvertreterin des Austauschschülerprogramms ASSE und beherbergte im Laufe der Jahre selbst sechs Schüler und brachte viele weitere in Privathaushalten in der Umgebung unter. Born in Waldoboro, September 17, 1931, she was the daughter of Otto A. and Wilma E. Beckett Hunt, Sr. Growing up in Waldoboro, she was educated in local schools and ultimately earned her diploma thru the SAD #5, Adult Education Program on May 29, 1981. November 27, 1954, she married Wilbert L. Barter, Jr. in Rockport. In earlier years, she worked at H.P. Hood & Son's in Waldoboro and later with various local food processing companies. For more than 18 years, she was employed at Van Baalen Pacific Corporation and until her illness, worked as a Personal Care Attendant. Polly was pre-deceased by her husband in 1992, a daughter Denise E. Dodge in 2000 and a brother Maynard O. Hunt in 1990. She is survived by two sons, Paul L. Barter of Aldan, PA, Dana W. Barter and his wife Susan of Springfield, PA; three daughters, Gail Robinson of Waldoboro, Darlene Grant and her husband David of South Thomaston, Cynthia J. | 5333 | ROCKPORT – Elwin S. Mank, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at PenBay Medical Center, Rockport. Born August 29, 1927 in Hope, he was the son of Elwin and Mary Meservey Mank. He graduated from Appleton High School, Husson College and did MBA graduate work at the University of Illinois and Ohio University. He joined the Navy shortly after high school, traveled with Admiral Byrd’s Antarctic Expedition aboard the USS Pine Island, and later on two cruises to the western Pacific. From December 1946 to March 1947, he was flying photographic missions. He married Carolyn Louise Lufkin on June 11, 1955 at Warren Baptist Church and together they had three children. In 1955 he accepted a job with Union Carbide Corporation where he held various management positions during his 28 year career. His service began in Bound Brook, NJ in an entry level management position, before going to Ottawa, IL, where he worked one year at the Manufacturing Plant producing plastics. He then went to Marietta, Ohio as Office Manager at Union Carbide Chemicals and Plastics Plant for seven years, and returned to Bound Brook where he held various positions, including accounting supervisor, until 1971. He then transferred to management at the home office in New York City as a technical writer. Two years later he returned to Bound Brook as manager of Automated Information Digital Systems and from 1977 to 1983 served as manager of the Union Carbide Accounting Center. In 1983 he became Project Manager for construction of the Division Headquarters building at South Bound Brook. After construction was completed, he was responsible for facility staffing and managed that facility until retiring in 1985. After retiring, he realized how much he missed working with people and soon acquired a financial consulting position with Amoco Chemical Company where he finished his working career. He returned to Maine in 1992 and bought a house in Rockport to be near his mother and Carolyn’s father. He was able to help care for them in their final years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, carving waterfowl, building furniture and toys for his grandchildren, and helping Carolyn with her flower gardens. He enjoyed being the ultimate ‘Do It Yourselfer’, and was a voracious reader. More than anything, Elwin was devoted to his family and valued spending time with them. Other than his parents, Elwin was pre-deceased by a sister Gloria E. Parker and a brother Frank L. Mank. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carolyn of Rockport; his children Terry G. Mank and his wife Deborah of Bridgewater, NJ, Cindy L. Ross and her husband Rick of Charlottesville, VA, Jeffrey E. Mank and his wife Donna of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Justin, Ryan and Colin Mank all of Bridgewater, NJ, Michael, Steven, and Katie Ross all of Charlottesville, VA; a sister Rosalie A. | 5334 | ROCKPORT – Joel Merrill Fisk, 90, starb friedlich am Sonntag, dem 18. Februar 2018, im Haus seiner Tochter in Rockport im Kreise seiner Familie. Joel wurde am 10. Oktober 1927 in Owls Head als Sohn von Lewis Sherburne Fisk und Sylvia Castner Fisk geboren. Joel gehörte der Warren Congregational Church, der IOOF, den Knights of Pythias und der American Legion an. Im Laufe der Jahre engagierte er sich in verschiedenen Stadtkomitees in Rockport und engagierte sich nach seinem Ausscheiden aus dem öffentlichen Bildungswesen ehrenamtlich im Farnsworth Museum. Joel wuchs in Warren auf, wo er die örtlichen Schulen besuchte und 1945 die Warren High School abschloss. Anschließend besuchte er das Bates College, das er 1949 abschloss. Nach seinem Militärdienst im Koreakrieg wurde er als Stabsfeldwebel des Sanitätskommandos des 20. Pionierbataillons entlassen. Mithilfe des GI Bill setzte er seine Ausbildung fort und erwarb einen Master-Abschluss in Pädagogik an der University of Maine. Er heiratete Helvi Laitinen im Jahr 1955. Sie kauften und restaurierten ein altes Cape Cod in Rockport und richteten sich dort gemeinsam ein, wo sie ihre Töchter Brenda und Joanna großzogen. Er genoss die vielen Familientreffen im Laufe der Jahre. Joel liebte seine Familie, Musik, Gartenarbeit und Bücher sowie seine vielen Haustiere, zuletzt seinen ständigen Begleiter, seinen Cocker Spaniel Nomad. Joel unterrichtete in Warren, Elliot und Islesboro, bevor er zum Schulsystem von Rockland kam, wo er über 35 Jahre lang unterrichtete und als Rektor der Rockland District Junior High in den Ruhestand ging. Er schätzte sich glücklich, im Laufe der Jahre mit so vielen hervorragenden Schülern und Lehrkräften in der MSAD 5 zusammengearbeitet zu haben. Joel war sehr stolz auf seine Tochter Joanna, als sie ihm in den Bildungsbereich folgte. Joel stand seinen Enkeln Merrill, Andrew und Isaac Hall besonders nahe und war sehr stolz auf sie. „Opa“ hat ihre Aktivitäten, ihre Ausbildung und ihre Zukunftspläne sehr genossen. Er wird den Jungs sehr fehlen. Joels Frau Helvi starb bereits 2005. Zu Joels Hinterbliebenen gehören Tochter Joanna und die Enkel Merrill, Andrew und Isaac Hall aus Rockport, Tochter Brenda Fowler aus Lake George, New York, die Enkel Kelley Healy und Henry Mattern aus New York, Keith Mattern aus Florida und Jessica Fowler aus Thomaston; die Nichten Nancy Stone aus Rockland, Carolyn Schwartz und ihr Mann Arlen aus Rockport; die Großneffen Josh Stone und seine Frau Chris sowie Sohn Eugene aus San Diego; Jason Stone aus Rockland; mehrere Urenkel; und sein geliebter Rettungshund Nomad. Layton was born to Margaret and Philip Mank in January 1937. He graduated from Coral Gables Senior High School in 1955. At the University of Florida he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1959, and went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree in 1962 from the same university. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and remained a proud citizen of the Gator Nation throughout his life. His first marriage was to Nancy Lomax in 1960. Following law school, he rose to the rank of captain while serving in the United States Army in Hawaii. There, among his many duties, he was also responsible for transferring in "ringers" for the Schofield Barracks baseball team. After his decorated military career, he rose through the ranks at the Miami based law firm: Blackwell & Walker where he specialized in product liability and admiralty law. He was an officer in both the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel and the Maritime Law Association. He also served as the president of the Historical Association of Southern Florida, where he oversaw a fruitful period of growth and development. In July 1982 he married Mary Stuart Patton. Throughout their time together, the loving couple were avid travelers and sports fans. Their combined family comprises four children and eight grandchildren. He has a grandchild named after him in each child's family. He is survived by his wife Mary Stuart; his son Stephen of Atlanta (wife, Danita and children, Sterling and Rowan); his son Christopher of Lakeland (wife, Kathleen and children, Callen, Caroline and Campbell); his daughter Julie Courtright of Cedarburg, WI (child, Oliver Niehaus); and his daughter Bentley Balzebre of Miami (husband Thomas and children, Patton and Lenox). A graveside service will take place Saturday, June 4th at 10 am at Evergreen Cemetery in Gainesville, FL. A memorial service will follow at 11 am at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, with a reception afterwards. Aufgewachsen in Friendship, absolvierte Roger 1961 die Waldoboro High School. Nach seinem Schulabschluss trat Roger der US-Marine bei, wo er in der Entschlüsselung hochsicherer Nachrichten ausgebildet wurde. Er verbrachte mehrere Jahre in Puerto Rico und wurde 1965 aus dem Dienst entlassen. Nach seiner Entlassung kehrte Roger nach Friendship zurück, wo er seine große Liebe Linda Maxcy kennenlernte. Die beiden heirateten am 7. Juli 1966. Neun Jahre lang lebten sie in Friendship, bevor sie für drei Jahre nach Massachusetts zogen. He retired from work after becoming ill with cancer. He fought a valiant battle, but God must have needed him sooner than we wanted to let him go. We will miss you, Rog, and think of you often. He was a retired highways maintenance supervisor for the State Department of Transportation and a driver / mechanic for Andrade Service, Inc. in Honokaa. He was also a bulldozer operator / mechanic for Ishimaru in Naalehu, Andrade-Kau Contracting in Naalehu and Kawaihae Ranch in Naalehu. He was a member of Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (May 17, 2014) at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church; Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.; burial to follow at Pahala Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire. | 5345 | ROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Linda Lila Lowell-Head of Clover Leaf Farms, Brooksville, Fla. and Saratoga Springs, N.Y., passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011. Born on Jan. 23, 1941, Linda, according to her shared memories had a wonderful childhood in Lee, Maine, where her father, Klien Lowell, owned and operated a potato farm. She would tell stories, both humorous and serious, of how she was the apple of her father's eye. She enjoyed being in the kitchen with, and later years traveling companion with her mother, Madeline (Carlow) Lowell White. After the death of her father, Mother married Richard White, who was dearly loved by Linda. Born in Lincoln, Maine, and attended Lee Academy of Lee, Maine, as well as Caribou High School, in Caribou, Maine. English was her favorite subject. In 1957, she married George John Patrick Head, who gained recognition as a New York State Trooper, and in later years, as a Justice. They owned and operated Cobble Stone Cottage in Lake George. In later years, she and her brother Charles owned and operated the Saratoga Mobile Court in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Together, Linda and George raised seven children; Pamela (Dana) Sullivan of Brooksville, Fla.; Clarence (Carol) Head of Mt. Juliette, Tenn.; Deborah (Thomas) Barbaro, of Queensbury, N.Y.; Raymond (Kelly) Head of Malone, N.Y.; Jennifer (Frank) Pugliese of Suffern, N.Y.; James George (Annette) Head of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and Mark Head of Brooksville, Fla. as well as 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Judith (Durwood) Wilson of Lincoln, Minn.; brothers: Merrill Dana (Roberta) Lowell of Caribou, Maine; Klein (Kim) (Carol) Lowell of Holly, N.Y.; and Charles Lowell of Queensbury, N.Y. She was predeceased by her parents, her stepfather, a sister, Laura Lee Lowell, and two brothers, Lloyd and Lester Lowell. Linda loved life and was active in Boy and Girl Scouts of Lake George, a 25 year member of the Lake George B.P.W., an avid bowler and office holder in the Classic League having maintained a 175 plus average. She also volunteered for numerous charities in the Lake George region, often modeling for various charity shows, her height and slim figure being an asset. In Florida, she was a member of the Clover Leaf Farms Club, a summer captain and driver for the clover Leaf Neighborhood Watch and a member of the Brooksville elks Club, Lodge No. 2580. Besides her family Linda loved her Mustang convertible, her three Chihuahuas (Baby Ricco, Carson and Maggie Mae). She made many friends and they will miss her greatly. In closing, Linda wanted everyone to become an organ donor. She herself while gravely ill became a recipient in 2006 of a lung transplant at Tampa General Hospital. She asked that the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and HPH Hospice be considered for donations.
