Ruby Alberta (Boynton) Hoffses, 93, of Waldoboro, passed away on Nov. 28 at Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro. she was born Sept. 1, 1909 in Liberty, the daughter of Albert Turner Boynton and Ellen Turner Boynton. Ruby graduated from Liberty High School and attended Gorham Normal School. She tuaght at a oneroom school house in Back Cove in Waldoboro where she met her future husband. Ruby lived at her first home in Waldoboro for over 69 years, living a life of subsistence farming. Ruby was noted for her exper sewing and fabrication skills and operated her own seamstress business. She was also noted for her gardening skills. Ruby was formerly emplyed by Van Baalen in Rockland. She influenced the lives of many by nurturing and caring for relatives and extended family during their old age in her own home. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church, Waldoboro, and the Good Luck Rebekah Lodge, No 72, I. O. I. F in Waldoboro for over 50 years. Ruby will be greatly missed by her many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Irvin Hoffses, her four brothers, Maurice, Herman, Alton and Roy Boynton, and four sisters, Gertie, Sadie, Geneva and Hazel. She is survived by nieces, Virginia Webber of Clinton, Winifred Bilodeau of Palermo, and Josephine Shorey of Corinth, brother-in-law, Ralph Hoffses and his wife Gertrude of Waldoboro, nephew and caretaker, Richard Hoffses of Waldoboro, grandnephew, Robert Boynton of Waldoboro, and many nieces, nephews, and special extended family. Harold and Phyllis Kaler of Palm Coast, Fla. Funeral Dec. 1 at the Hall Funeral Home Pastor Michael Peterson officiated. Burial in the Sweetland Cemetery in Waldoboro. Arrangements are under the care of the Hall Funeral HOme, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.

Rudolph "Rudy" A. Kantola, 56, Waldoboro postmaster, died Monday at a Rockport hospital. He was the husband of Marion Hilt Kantola. He was born in New York City, son of Anthony and Agnes Alkin Kantola. In addition to being postmaster in Waldoboro, he was an avid sportsman, involved in harness racing, and was manager and coach of the Waldoboro Little League for many years. He attended the Waldoboro Baptist Church and was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a member of teh American Legion and the VFW. Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Alice Hendrickson of Waldoboro, a daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Charlotte) Henrick III of Londonderry, N.H., a sister Mrs. Robert (Sheila) Gray of Troy and a granddaughter Victoria K. Hendrick of Londonderry, N.H. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Waldoboro. The Rev. Harlan deBrun officiating. Burial will be in German-Lutheran Cemetery.

5175 Ruth A. Scott, 94, of Manheim and formerly of Woodland, Maine passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2015. Ruth was born on May 25, 1920 in Bangor, Maine; she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Alda Moody Moore. Ruth and her late husband, Elwood (Bill) Seamans of thirty years were the owners of the former Airline Motel and Restaurant in Woodland, Maine for many years. She was a member of the Riverside Rebekah Lodge # 140 Order of Eastern Star.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Prout of Manheim, PA and Judith Walsh of Winthrop, MA, six grandchildren, Stephen Prout of Monroeville, AL, David Prout of Cockeyville, MD, Susan Mendenill of Lake George, CO, Patrick Walsh of Canton, MA, Maureen Salvucci of Hinghan, MA, Thomas Walsh of Miami, FL and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Elwood “Bill” Seamans and her second husband Gordon Scott.
Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, PA on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Friends visited with the family from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private in Woodland, Maine.

Sie wurde in Bridgeport als Tochter der verstorbenen William und Marion Hopkins MacKenzie geboren, wuchs in Fairfield auf und lebte 53 Jahre lang in South Glastonbury und war Mitglied der St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Sie machte ihren Abschluss am Bates College in Maine. Sie liebte das Reiten und nahm an vielen Jagd- und Springturnieren teil. Nach dem College lernte Mrs. Helsher Braille und arbeitete ehrenamtlich für die Hilfsorganisation des Hartford Hospital, besonders gern hatte sie den Bücherwagen. Sie hinterlässt ihre beiden Kinder Judith Schaffer aus West Hartford, bei der sie die letzten sechs Jahre lebte, Richard M. UNION – Ruthie A. Hilt, 70, beloved wife of the late Philip Hilt, Sr., died surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness, Sunday, December 10, 2017 at The Sussman House in Rockport.

Born in Thomaston April 30, 1947, she was the daughter of Thomas and Dorothy Snow Horsley.

Ruthie was educated in Thomaston schools. She began work at Sylvania's in Waldoboro, Fullers Trading Post in South Hope, and Whitehall Inn, Camden, but her greatest job was being a housewife, mother and grandmother.

One of Ruthie's greatest passions was spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren, all affectionately referring to her as Nanny.

Ruthie loved computer games, Facebook, reading and living life to the fullest.

On November 15, 1969 Ruthie married Philip Hilt, Sr. The couple enjoyed raising their family, perusing yard sales and gardening, but most of all spending time together. For many years Ruthie assisted her husband, volunteering many hours with the Union Fire Department and Union Ambulance.

Ruthie and Philip's door was always open to anyone. Ruthie was a neighborhood mother, where anybody, young or old, could go and feel loved and welcome! She was a great listener. A warm-hearted and straight shooter, she would tell you her opinion, even if you didn't want the answer.

Predeceased by her loving husband Phil, her parents Thomas and Dorothy Horsley, her in-laws Donald and Athlene Hilt, Ruthie is survived by her two sons, Glen T. Hilt and his wife Julie of South Thomaston, Philip D. Hilt, Jr. of South Portland; her daughter, Amy Stelzer and her husband Larry of Jefferson; six siblings, Clifton Weaver and his wife Ragna, Betty Small, Priscilla Scott, Katherine Weymouth, Linda Taylor and her husband Larry, Francis Weaver and the late Patricia Weaver; eight grandchildren, Alexia Hilt of Friendship, Isabell Hilt of Bath, Emily, Tamra Miller of South Thomaston, McKenzie and Tanner Hilt of Camden, Kiya and Eilee Stelzer of Jefferson; one sister-in-law Diane Poland and her husband Richard; five brothers-in-law, Donald Hilt, Jr. and his wife Margaret, Sherwood Hilt and his wife Barbara, Keith Hilt and his wife Debra, David Hilt and his companion Michelle Upton, Benjamin Hilt and his wife Kris; a special adopted daughter Heather Fuller; special friends, Jesse Morgan, Brenda and Kenny Curtis, Alielia Hilt-Lash and Melissa Reed, as well as many nieces and nephews and her fur baby, Babe.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 14th at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at Thomaston Baptist Church, Main Street, with the Rev. Wayne Sawyer officiating. Interment at East Union Cemetery will be announced in the spring.

She also enjoyed camping with the Dragon Cement Plant families for many years, especially the trip to Expo '67 in Canada. Valerie enjoyed knitting, quilting, working in her beautiful flower gardens, and visiting her family. Predecease d by her husband Maynard, her parents, and her brother Kenneth D. Sie wurde am 5. Oktober 1946 in Rockland als Tochter von Norman und Barbara Bartlett Cunningham geboren.

Carolyn schloss die Camden High School ab und besuchte später die Husson University.

Carolyn zog nach Portland und arbeitete für Travelers Insurance. Zuvor war sie über 18 Jahre lang für die Dyer Library in Saco tätig.

Carolyn verbrachte gerne Zeit mit ihrer Familie, ging zelten, angeln, Boot fahren und zum Bingo.

Zu den Hinterbliebenen gehören ihr Ehemann Fred Gallant aus Saco, mit dem sie 49 Jahre verheiratet war; zwei Söhne, Fred Gallant II aus Buxton und seine Frau Stacy, und Brad Gallant aus Buxton und seine Frau Betsey; ein Enkel, Nicholas; und sechs Stiefenkelkinder, India, Harrison, Sebastian, Graham, Trevor und Ian.

Die Beisetzung findet im engsten Familienkreis auf dem Cedar Brook Friedhof in Limington statt.

CWO4 Salvatore F. „Sam“ Pagano, 87, aus Opelika, Alabama, früher aus Silver Creek, New York, verstarb am Sonntag, 15. November 2015, nach kurzer Krankheit im St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Er wurde am 25. Juli 1928 in Sheridan, New York, als Sohn der verstorbenen Joseph und Lena (Ortolano) Pagano geboren.

Sam schied nach über 23 Dienstjahren aus der US Army, 46. Pionierbataillon, Fort Rucker, Alabama, aus und erreichte den Rang eines Chief Warrant Officer 4. Er war Träger der National Defense Medal mit einem Eichenblatt, der Good Conduct Medal, der Army Occupation Medal, des Aviation Badge, der Armed Forces Reserve Medal, der Vietnam Campaign Medal, der Vietnam Service Medal und der Air Medal mit zwei Eichenblatt-Clustern. Er erfüllte viele Aufgaben in der Armee und beendete seine Laufbahn als Testpilot.

Nach seiner Pensionierung gründete Sam die S&P Landscaping Co. in Columbus, Georgia, die er mehrere Jahre lang leitete. Seine wahre Leidenschaft galt jedoch der Arbeit an Autos. Er hatte seine eigene Werkstatt und war gern Mechaniker.

Sam hinterlässt zwei Söhne, Stephen (Bitsy) Pagano aus Phenix City, Alabama, und Salvatore „Sam“ Pagano Jr. aus Rincon, Georgia, sowie eine Tochter, Linda Fourhman aus Elizabethtown, Kentucky. sieben Enkelkinder, Shannon Pagano-Gentner, Samantha Pagano, Salvatore „Sam“ Pagano III, Stephen Pagano, Stephen „John“ Pagano, Amanda Fourhman und Dennis „JR“ Fourhman Jr.; zwei Brüder, Marion (Mary Lou) Pagano und Carmello (Sue) Pagano, beide aus Silver Creek, N.Y.; und eine Schwester, Cecilia Petrella aus Sheridan, N.Y.

Neben seinen Eltern sind auch die Mutter seiner Kinder, Patricia Jangro, vor ihm verstorben; fünf Brüder, William, Joseph, Charles, Steven und Franklin Pagano; und drei Schwestern, Mary Saltarelli, Lena Bifaro und Hyacinth Calcott.

Gebete finden am Freitag, 20. November 2015, um 12:00 Uhr in der Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, N.Y. statt; gefolgt von einer christlichen Totenmesse um 12:30 Uhr in der Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Silver Creek. Die Beisetzung findet auf dem Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Silver Creek statt. Die Familie wird heute von 14 bis 16 Uhr und von 19 bis 21 Uhr anwesend sein.

Born in Canton, on May 8, 1957, a daughter of the late Gene and Ann Painter, also preceded in death by sister Carol Rowe. Survived by her husband Cecil Newell Jr; 2 daughters Marie (Rob) Newell and April (Tyrone) Newell, both of Canton; son Cecil Newell III, of Canton; brother Rod Painter, of Canton; 5 grandchildren Cody (Arianna), Jacob, Kyle (Clay), Cecil (Kaydence), and Kelsey, as well as niece Tammy Painter and brother-in-law Roy Newell.
