Während der Kindererziehung arbeitete sie jahrelang in verschiedenen Geschäften in Friendship. Später war sie über zehn Jahre als Angestellte für den Maine State Homemakers' Service (heute DHHS) tätig. Sie war über 50 Jahre Mitglied der Friendship United Methodist Church und gehörte auch dem Orden der Pythian Sisters an. Im Jahr 2003 war sie die Ehrenmarschallin der Friendship Day Parade. | 1454 | Beverly Ann Goepfert, age 67, of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. Bev was born the daughter of Glen E. and Dorothy M. (Wells) Kortmann on December 3, 1951 in Freeport, IL. She was united in marriage to Harvey Victor Goepfert on April 5, 1969 in Monroe. Bev worked in retail sales in the Monroe area for many years, including at Luecke’s Jewelers. She was also a bartender for many years at Turner Hall and the Monroe Moose Lodge. Bev was a lifetime member of the Zilmer Riley VFW Post #2312 Auxiliary in Monroe, and had also served as Auxiliary President. Bev is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harvey of Monroe; two daughters, Julie (Dan) Verschage and Tammy Goepfert both of Monroe; one grandson, Kyler (Kayla Beyer) Smith; sister, Diane Marie (Rick) Butler of Argyle; and several nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday June 28, 2019 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home. Burial will follow service in Greenwood Cemetery. Simmons) Benner geboren. Sie besuchte die örtlichen Schulen in Waldoboro. Am 27. August 1966 heiratete sie Bill Winslow. Gemeinsam hatten sie zwei Töchter. Beverly genoss es, Hausfrau und Mutter zu sein und die Erfolge und Freuden ihrer Töchter mitzuerleben. Besonders gern durfte sie bei der Geburt ihrer Enkelkinder dabei sein. Beverly arbeitete als Seniorenbetreuerin und hatte eine enge Bindung zu Isabelle. Außerdem war sie 13 Jahre lang beim Rettungsdienst tätig. Beverlys größte Freude war es, Hausfrau und Mutter zu sein. Sie war eine begeisterte Handarbeiterin und liebte Häkeln, Nähen und den Anbau von Obst und Gemüse zum Einmachen. Sie las gern in der Bibel, hatte einen tiefen Glauben an Gott und verfolgte regelmäßig die Predigten von Pastor Joel Osteen. Beverly liebte Tanzen, Kartenspielen mit Freunden und Familie und pflegte den Kontakt zu ihren Facebook-Freunden und -Verwandten. Sie war außerdem Mitglied der Frauenhilfsorganisation. Beverlys größte Freude war es, Zeit mit ihrer Familie und ihren Freunden zu verbringen und am Leben ihrer Kinder und Enkelkinder teilzuhaben. | 1456 | Beverly Peterson, age 76, of Hayward, WI passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at her home. Beverly Peterson was born July 10, 1946 in Beloit, Wisconsin, daughter of Carl and Hazel (Beck) Brehm. She was joined in marriage to Richard Everson on May 22, 1965. While living in Beloit, she was active in church at Our Savior's Lutheran where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and president of the church council. Beverly was treasurer for the Town of Beloit for sixteen years. She was also active in the Altrusa Club. Beverly moved from Beloit in 1988, where she and her husband purchased Nelson Lake Lodge in Hayward, Wisconsin. The Lodge had 9 cabins, 52 campsites, a bar, and a restaurant. In 1993, they purchased a neighboring resort of 6 cabins and a bar/living quarters. They combined it with the existing Nelson Lake Lodge. She served on the Hayward Lakes Board and was treasurer of the Nelson Lake Resort Association for eleven years. In 1999, Richard died of Lymphoma. Beverly continued running the resort, and in 2001, she married Duane "Pete" Peterson. The two of them ran the resort together until it was sold in 2010. After retiring, Beverly enjoyed her time by writing books. She authored: Love is Like a Butterfly, Freedom of the Butterfly, and Blessing and Healings. Throughout her life, Beverly devoted her life and time to her belief in God. She always felt blessed by God, and she tried to pass along blessings to others. She felt especially blessed by having found a partner in Pete, as they shared their lives together. Beverly is survived by her husband Duane "Pete" Peterson; her daughters, Michelle Barkemeyer of Norwood, CO, Tammy (Brad) Helminiak of Trego, WI, Corinna "Cori" Everson of Peoria, AZ; three grandchildren, Meghan, Brady, and Jessica; great granddaughters, Addison and Mia; and three nieces and nephew, Kathy, Julie, Janet, and Kurt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Carl and Richard Brehm, and first husband, Richard Everson. A memorial service celebrating Beverly's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Spider Lake Church with Pastor Gary Hilgendorf officiating. | 1462 | Biographie Der spätere Firmengründer Georg erlernte nach dem Besuch der Gewerbeschule in Kaiserslautern 1838-40 in Mannheim das Blasinstrumentenbauerhandwerk. Anschließend unternahm er zwei große Gesellenwanderungen, die ihn durch Deutschland, Italien und Frankreich führten. 1849 gründete er in Kaiserslautern ein Geschäft zur Herstellung von Blechblasinstrumenten. 1862 nahm er hier die Herstellung von Nähmaschinen nach amerik. Bauart auf, die er bis 1866 neben der Musikinstrumentenherstellung betrieb. Seit 1871 stellte er den Nähmaschinenbau erfolgreich auf Fabrikbetrieb um; die Produktion wurde teilweise exportiert. In den 80er Jahren weiter expandierend, führte Georg jun. 1887 die normierte Nähmaschinennadel ein, die in der deutschen Nadelindustrie richtungweisend wurde. Nach dem Tod des Firmengründers Georg erhielt die Stadt Kaiserslautern 1893 aus dem Testament eine Spende zur Errichtung einer Stiftung für die Ausbildungsunterstützung bedürftiger und talentierter Arbeitersöhne. Georg sen., erfolgreicher Konstrukteur und Organisator, hatte noch zu seinen Lebzeiten den Betrieb zur größten Nähmaschinenfabrik des Kontinents ausgebaut. Er war Angehöriger des Stadtrats, seit 1893 bayer. Landtagsabgeordneter der Nationalliberalen Partei. Sein Sohn Georg absolvierte ein Maschinenbaustudium an der Industrieschule Kaiserslautern und eine praktische Ausbildung im väterlichen Werk. Seit 1871 war er im Unternehmen tätig und erwarb sich u. a. durch längere Aufenthalte in den USA weitere organisatorische und technische Kenntnisse. Er baute die Firma sehr erfolgreich aus (1907 erstmals über 1000 Mitarbeiter). In diese Zeit fiel auch der Bau der ersten Spezialnähmaschinen und Industriemaschinen. 1910 wurde die millionste Pfaff-Nähmaschine gefertigt, 1912 war Pfaff ein weltweit agierendes Unternehmen, das in 64 vor allem europ. und afrikan. Staaten exportierte. 1926 wurde das Unternehmen in eine Aktiengesellschaft umgewandelt, im selben Jahr führte Lina, einzige deutsche Kommerzienrätin (1926), Tochter des Firmengründers und Leiterin des Betriebes seit 1917, die Fließbandmontage ein. Der Enkel des Firmengründers und Neffe Georgs jun., Karl, arbeitete nach Studium und Militärdienst seit 1919 als Ingenieur in dem Unternehmen und leitete es seit 1926. In den 1930er Jahren entwickelte sich aufgrund des intensivierten Exports, v. a. nach Indien, Brasilien und in die USA, trotz der Wirtschaftskrise ein guter Geschäftsgang. Nach zwischenzeitlicher Umstellung auf Kriegsproduktion und teilweiser Zerstörung des Werks 1944 führte die Firma 1949 das Austenal-Verfahren ein; Pfaff war Pionier dieses Feingußverfahrens in Deutschland. Das Unternehmen war weiterhin größte Nähmaschinenfabrik auf dem europ. Kontinent, u. a. durch den Erwerb einiger anderer Firmen. Nach mehreren Besitzwechseln in den 1990er Jahren gehörte das Unternehmen seit 1997 über die Muttergesellschaft Singer Company N. V., Niederländische Antillen, zum international tätigen Konzern des Honkongchinesen James H. Ting. Der Vorstand der G. M. Pfaff AG beantragte im September 1999 die Eröffnung des Insolvenzverfahrens. Born 1935 she was a proud native Washingtonian and was a graduate of Buchanan Elementary and Eastern High School. In the 1950’s, she was a draftswoman and engineering assistant for the Telephone Company before leaving to devote herself to raising her family. And she greatly encouraged her children’s every athletic, artistic and musical endeavors. With her husband she travelled the world until they retired to Ocean Pines where she enjoyed all Delmarva had to offer. She was a member of The Garden Club, The Women’s Club and The Republican Women’s Club. And she greatly enjoyed her art, her crafts, her garden, Mahjong, antiques and her friends. She is survived by sons Daniel of Ocean Pines and Timothy (Christine) of Ellicott City; beloved grandchildren Colleen Ebel-Ecker, Victoria Ebel, Julia Sayre-Rebellon and Amanda Sayre; brother Ken Miller; nieces and nephews; and her two beloved dogs. She is preceded in death by her husband William; sons Michael and Patrick; parents Harold and Corinne Miller; and brothers Fred and Robert Miller. Ludwig Sr. and uncle, Theobald Ludwig, created the Ludwig & Ludwig Drum Company. The company was originally built around a bass drum pedal that the two brothers had invented for the working professional drummer. And by the 1920’s the Ludwig Drum Company had became the world’s largest drum manufacturing company. William F. Ludwig IIWilliam F. Ludwig II was born on September 13, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois, to William Ludwig, Sr. and Elsa Maria Gunkler. William Jr. had one sister, Bettie Ludwig, born 4 years later in 1920. As one might expect, coming from a family of drummers, William Jr. quickly took a liking to the drums. His playing career began at the age of 8 when his father brought home a pair of drumsticks, a rubber practice pad and a large instruction book. William Jr. played percussion throughout his grade school years and at the age of 16 won the National Solo Drum Competition. After graduating from Park-River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois, he went on to attend the University of Illinois. There he enrolled in the School of Business Economics and served as solo timpanist with the University of Illinois Concert Band as well as playing drums on weekends making $ 4.00 a night. Around 1937, just eight years after the Ludwig & Ludwig Drum Company had been sold to Conn, William Ludwig, Jr. co-founded, along with his father Ludwig Sr., the W.F.L. Drum Company in Chicago. William Jr. became the Sales and Advertising manager for the W.F.L. Drum Company, designing his first Ludwig catalog in 1939 known as “Big Red” because it had a red cover. His second catalog was the 1940 catalog with a green cover. Both had Ray Bauduc of Dixieland fame on the cover. In May of 1942, Ludwig Jr. was drafted into the Navy and went to the Great Lakes Naval Training Station in North Chicago. He was welcomed by an old Ludwig & Ludwig banjo artist, Lt. Eddie Peabody. PeabodyPeabody utilized Ludwig’s skill to train drummers in the art of military drumming. Thousands of soldiers, in 12 drum corps, learned to march to the beat of drummers trained by Ludwig, who reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer. had been chastised by an Admiral for the poor marching habits of their recruits. For the next three years, After completing his service in 1945, Ludwig Jr. returned to WFL Drum Company. He designed the 1947 WFL drum catalog which contained the new Classic line of lug casings and had a picture of Buddy Rich on the front cover. In 1955 Conn exited the drum business and sold the Ludwig name back to the Ludwig family. Under William junior’s guidance, the Ludwig Drum Company once again became the world’s largest drum company. A milestone in the company history came in 1964 when the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show with Ludwig drums. The resulting demand for Ludwig drums forced the family to add a night shift at the manufacturing plant. In 1970, William F. Ludwig II became President of the Ludwig Drum Company. The 1980 Ludwig catalog was the last Ludwig catalog written by Mr. Ludwig. Ludwig Industries was sold to Selmer in 1981 and manufacturing was moved three years later to Monroe, North Carolina. Wm. F. Ludwig II worked as a consultant for the firm, and in his retirement spent more time perfecting his lecture/demonstration "A History of Drumming in America". The presentation included a demonstration of the sound effect devices used by theater drummers … and in his demo, Ludwig II utilized the effects actually used in theater drumming by his father, Ludwig Senior. In recognition of his educational efforts and general contributions to the arts, Capital University in 1987 awarded Ludwig an honorary Doctorate of Humanities degree. In his retirement, Ludwig demonstrated how integral a part of the percussion world he really was. He auditioned annually for the Wheaton Community Orchestra, earning the tympani chair year after year and played timpani at his church each Easter Sunday. Though he no longer had a vested interest in the drum company, Ludwig for decades acted as a goodwill ambassador. He appeared regularly at major industry events such as the Chicago Drum Show and Percussive Arts Society conventions. In 1993 PAS inducted him to the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame. His father was already a member, having been inducted in 1972. Other than the Zildjian, they are the only father-son members of this elite group. In 2001, Ludwig penned his autobiography, The Making Of A Drum Company, published by Rebeats Publications. He produced the first drafts of his book using the manual typewriter he’d used for his correspondence for over 50 years. On March 22, 2008, at the age of 91, William F. Ludwig II died in Chicago of natural causes. He is survived by his son William F. Ludwig III of Chicago and daughter Brooke Crowden of Irving, TX. William F. Ludwig II was recognized as a leading authority in the manufacturing of all types of percussion instruments. A guardian of the Ludwig family heritage, William F. Ludwig II had an extensive museum of early drums dating from the Revolutionary War, plus collected and cataloged every American drum and accessory patent ever issued by the United States Patent Office, beginning with the Zimmerman percussion patent of 1858. He was born July 2, 1947, in Detroit. Mr. Gliesman retired after 39 years of employment from Cross Huller and began work at the age of 19 for Cross Company in Fraser. He married Cynthia on May 6, 1972 in Peace Lutheran Church in Detroit. He enjoyed boating and fishing on the Great Lakes and was a member of the New Wave Boat Club. He was involved with his children's swim team and served as a head official for the YMCA Macomb Marlins swim team for 15 years. He also enjoyed playing cards especially bridge and earned his life master. Animals were an important part of his life and he especially loved golden retrievers. His family said he was an active volunteer and served the Lord on various committees at Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica, where he had been a member since 1979. Mr. Gliesman is survived by his wife, Cynthia; daughters, Jennifer Gliesman of Cincinnati, Ohio and Allison (Byronn) Memmelaar of Coledonia, Mich.; mother, Erika Blauet; siblings, Paul (Cindi) Gliesman of Northville, Ronald (Kathy) Blauet of Redford, David (Linda) Blauet of Metamora, Doris Blauet of Macomb Township and Esther (Alan) Borowiak of Detroit; brother-in-law, Douglas (Gayle) Merkle of Grosse Pointe Shores; seven nephews; one niece; and four great-nieces and -nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William F. Gliesman Jr. and stepfather, Rudolph Blauet. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 45160 Van Dyke, Utica, with the Rev. Norman Koy officiating. Burial will be in Christian Memorial Cultural Center, Rochester Hills. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and 4-9 p.m. Thursday at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (three blocks east of Van Dyke), Utica. Additional visitation is 10:30-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
