    Koehs, Michael David Age 67, passed away peacefully Monday, August 8, 2016, at his home in Macomb Township, Mich., after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife, Cheryl (Smith) Koehs; children, Michael (Jodi Harper) Koehs of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Julie Koehs (Bill) Tackett of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Madeline and Catherine (CJ) Tackett, and Nick, Jackson, Matthew, and Chloe Harper. Also survived by brother, Ed (Brenda) Koehs, and sisters, Marcy (Tom) Romps, Connie (Jerry) Longsworth, and Kim (James) Allison; step-mother, Jean Koehs; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his mother-in-law, Josephine Smith; sisters-in-law, Dr. Jacqueline Smith, Cynthia (Paul) McNamara, and Deborah (Dan) Spellicy and families. Preceded in death by his father, Robert P. Koehs; mother, Eileen Mick Koehs; brothers, Robert Koehs Jr., James Koehs, and his father-in-law, Wilbur J. Smith. A two-time Purple Heart recipient, Michael was a Vietnam veteran, and dedicated his life to public service - both as a retired Macomb County deputy, and 19 years as Macomb Township Clerk. He belonged to several organizations close to his heart: Masonic Lodge #222, VFW Post #7573, Knights of Columbus, 25th Infantry Division, American Legion, and a host of others. Visitation will be Thursday, August 11, from 2-8 p.m. at Gendernalik Funeral Home in New Baltimore, and a funeral Mass with military honors will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 95 Market St., Mt. Clemens on Friday, August 12 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BSA Troop 211 - c/o New Baltimore Civic Club - 36551 Main Street, New Baltimore MI 48047. Special thanks to the dignified care provided by Henry Ford Macomb Hospital and Hospice Care staff.
