- Porter Raymond "Pat" Whitney died 25 November 2011.
He was born in Portland, Maine on 28 August 1926 to Lillian A. Gregor Whitney and James H. Whitney. He grew up in Falmouth, Maine and worked with his father and grandfather on the family boats.
During WWII he joined the Merchant Marines and in 1948 enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He spent his 20 year Navy career as an electrician aboard several different ships.
After retiring he worked as an electrician for Union Sugar and retired a second time from DeLamar Silver Mine in 1990. After retiring he moved his family to Homedale.
Pat is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many different callings. He was an avid supporter of Scouting, enjoyed bowling, and was always willing to share his knowledge of the world from his travels.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his first wife.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn; two daughters, Ann and Patti; three sons, Sean, Scott, and Chris; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral service will be held at the LDS Church, 708 W. Idaho Ave. in Homedale on Saturday, 3 December 2011, 1:00pm with grave dedication and Navy military honors to follow at the Marsing-Homedale Cemetery.
