- Obituary for Christine Rose Gamage
ROCKLAND - Christine R. Gamage, 75, died surrounded by her family at her home after an extended illness, Sunday, December 13, 2009. Born in Rockland, March 22, 1934, she was the daughter of Alton J. and Myrtle R. Boggs Mank.
She attended local schools and was a 1952 graduate of Rockland High School.
In earlier years, Christine worked in area fish factories. She later worked as a personal care attendant, first with ASK Home Health Agency and later with Kno-Wal-Lin Home Health Care.
December 12, 1972, she married Bruce E. Gamage, Sr. in Rockland. She assisted her husband in the operation of his business, Bruce's Used Furniture, and for several years, they wintered in Chiefland, Florida.
She enjoyed going on ocean cruises with her family and particularly enjoyed playing the slot machines on those ships. Recently, she was thrilled to participate in a trip to Hollywood Slots in Bangor. She also loved going to garage sales.
Christine was pre-deceased by two daughters, Llynne Haskins in 2005, Nancy Beverage in 2006, and a sister Betty Beal in 1993. Besides her husband of Rockland, she is survived by her children, Allan Haskins and his companion Janice Goodnow of Union, Roxanne Seader and her husband Rayburn of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Rhonda Collins and her companion Brian Kincaid of Stuart, FL, Duane Makie, James Makie and his companion Denise all of Rockland, Cheryl Gehrmann and her husband Oral of Rockport; her step-children, Bruce E. Gamage, Jr. and his wife Becky of Rockland, Anne Orne of Cushing; three brothers, Frank Mank and his wife Doris of Bath, Emery Mank of Massachusetts, Everett Mank and his wife Gloria of Rockland; two sisters, Shirley Edwards and her husband Harry of Willimantic, CT, Nancy Beal of Rockland; her son-in-law, Edward Beverage of North Haven; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a service will be held at 7:30 that same evening.
