- Alson “Sannie” De Mello, 94, of Wailuku, passed away on April 10, 2015 at his residence with Hospice care. He was born on August 20, 1920 in Puunene, Maui.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday April 19, 2015 at Ballard Family Mortuary, services will begin at 10:30 a.m., and cremation will follow.
Alson was a heavy equipment operator at Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Sylva De Mello; step-sons, Lopaka Bobby Aiwohi, and Ralph “R.E.” (Moea) Williams; step-daughters, Valerie Nanilei (Joseph) Fernandez, and Mona Cabrera; brother, Alfred (Patricia) De Mello; sister, Dorothy Carvalho; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Alson was pre-deceased by his parents, John and Mary De Mello; step-sons, Harry Lee Williams, and Douglas Williams; brothers, John (Bessie) De Mello, George (Henrietta) De Mello, Clarence De Mello; sisters, Daisy Garcia, and Rose Pacheco.
