- Judith E. (Grant) Ludwig Hopgood of Bridgewater passed away at her home on the afternoon of April 26, 2017 with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Ludwig was 69 years old. Judith was born in Brockton on March 17, 1948 and was the daughter of the late James G. Grant and Rita M. (Peters) Grant. She was raised and educated in Brockton and spent the summers of her childhood in Onset. Judith worked for many as a cafeteria worker at Burnell Elementary School in Bridgewater, a job she truly enjoyed. Family was everything to Judith, as she was most happy when she was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed taking trips to Florida, especially West Palm Beach and trying her luck at the casino. Judith also loved playing cards, perfecting her favorite craft, which was crochet and listening to Elvis Presley. She was predeceased by three husbands, Algred Skiendiel [12/9/1947-12/13/1997], Peter E. Hopgood and Michael Ludwig, and siblings, John Grant, David Grant, James Grant, Kevin Grant, Agnes Brown, Margaret Gurney and Rita McElroy. Judith is survived by her children, William S. and his wife Sylvia, David S., Katy H. and Peter H., Jr. She was the proud grandmother. Mrs. Ludwig is also survived by her siblings, Paul G., Joan S., Mary J. and Deborah P.. A Mass of Christian burial for the repose of Judiths soul will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 103 Center St., Bridgewater. Calling hours and interment will be held privately. Arrangements are under the care of the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St. (Rte. 28), West Bridgewater. Donations in Judiths memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater.
