Leroy P. Leavitt
1954 - 2015
AUGUSTA - Leroy P. Leavitt, age 61, died on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, surrounded by all of his loved ones. He was born in Augusta, on March 7, 1954, the son of the late Edwin and Winola (Millett) Leavitt.
Mr. Leavitt was a US Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
He had been employed at Mariners Paving for over 20 years and later for George Hall Construction.
He was a caring man, with a great sense of humor. He loved hunting, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Leavitt was predeceased by a grandson, Patriot Cline; and a brother, Theodore "Teddy" Leavitt. He is survived by three sons, Scott Robinson and his wife Mandi Johnson of Gardiner, Leroy A. Leavitt and his wife Courtney of Damariscotta, JaColby Leavitt and his wife Alison of Washington, two daughters, Wendy R. Robinson of Gardiner and Nola-Raye Cline and her husband Ryan of Spruce Head; two brothers, George Leavitt of Augusta and James "Jimmy" Leavitt of Farmingdale, two sisters: Sandra Bowman of Sidney and Violette Nolan of Weeki Wachee, Fla., a sister-in-law, Dixie Leavitt; six grandchildren, Cheyenne Peddle, Chance Robinson, Emma Leavitt, Maddison Leavitt, Liberty Leavitt and JaColby Leavitt, Jr.; an uncle, Roger Millett, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A committal service with military honors will be held graveside on Friday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m., at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. Following the service there will be a celebration of Leroy's life at his son JaColby's house, in Washington. All are welcome to come and share their special memories of Leroy.
