Helen W. Chapman, 88, a resident of Cove’s Edge, passed away peacefully on the evening of Jan. 12 at LincolnHealth – Miles Campus after a long period of declining health. She was born at home in Waldoboro on March 2, 1930, the ninth child of Harold Ernest Winchenbach and Ruth Mae Creamer. She grew up in Waldoboro and attended Waldoboro schools. She worked at Miles Memorial Hospital in the late 1940s and in 1948 she met and married Niven C. Chapman. She loved shopping, crossword puzzles, bus trips, restaurants, and playing the daily numbers. Besides her parents and 10 siblings, she was predeceased by son, Gregory, in November 1969 and daughter, Rhonda, in March 2018. She was also predeceased by grandchildren, Serena, Sherry, and Ralph F. Glidden Jr. She is survived by children, Eva V. Glidden of Somerville, Carol Simmons of Damariscotta, Bruce T. Chapman of Damariscotta, Paulette A. Chapman of Boothbay, Jeffrey E. Chapman of Nobleboro, and Jonathan M. Chapman of Damariscotta. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. Helen W. Chapman, 88, Bewohnerin von Cove's Edge, starb am Abend des 12. Januar friedlich im LincolnHealth — Miles Campus nach langem, angeschlagenem Gesundheitszustand.
Sie wurde am 2. März 1930 als neuntes Kind von Harold Ernest Winchenbach und Ruth Mae Creamer in Waldoboro geboren. Sie wuchs in Waldoboro auf und besuchte dort die Schulen. Ende der 1940er Jahre arbeitete sie im Miles Memorial Hospital und lernte 1948 Niven C. Chapman kennen und heiratete ihn.
Sie liebte Einkaufen, Kreuzworträtsel, Busfahrten, Restaurantbesuche und das Zahlenspiel.
Neben ihren Eltern und zehn Geschwistern verstarben vor ihr ihr Sohn Gregory im November 1969 und ihre Tochter Rhonda im März 2018. Auch ihre Enkelkinder Serena, Sherry und Ralph F. Glidden Jr. verstarben vor ihr.
Sie hinterlässt Eva V. Glidden aus Somerville, Carol Simmons aus Damariscotta, Bruce T. Chapman aus Damariscotta, Paulette A. Chapman aus Boothbay, Jeffrey E. Chapman aus Nobleboro und Jonathan M. Chapman aus Damariscotta. Außerdem hinterlässt sie 13 Enkel, zwölf Urenkel und zwei Stief-Urenkel.
Ein Gedenkgottesdienst ist für das Frühjahr geplant.
Die Organisation der Trauerfeier wurde der Firma Direct Cremation of Maine anvertraut.
