- WINSLOW, ME -- Frank Lester Mank, 74, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
He was born in Appleton on July 29, 1934, the son of Elwin and Mary (Meservey) Mank. Frank attended Appleton schools, graduating from Appleton High School. He worked doing various jobs, retiring as a manager for the state of Maine.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching. He belonged to several snowmobile clubs and was active in camper groups. While living in Washington, he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. For the past 10 years he has lived in Winslow and spent winters in Zephyrhills, Fla.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Christine (Chapman) Mank. Surviving are a son, Timothy A. Mank, of Washington; a daughter, Cheryl Swift, of Augusta; two brothers, Elwin Mank and wife Carolyn, of Rockport, and Mervyn Mank and wife Gail, of Appleton; two sisters, Rosalie Gleason and husband William, of Appleton, and Gloria Parker and husband Frank, of Appleton; a granddaughter, Heather Parker and husband Alan, of Williston, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Shelby Mosley, Morgan Clark, Hannah Clark and Emma Parker.
