UNION - Letha B. Athearn, 73, also of Seminole, Fla., died Saturday at a Rockport hospital after a long illness. She was born in Waldoboro, the daughter of Ralph and Lillian Ulma Vannah, and attended Rockland schools. She was a member of teh Golden Rod Chapter Eastern Star, teh Senior Citizens of Union, the Pine Tree Camping Association, and the Coastal Clippers Square Dancing Club. She was also a member of the South Hope Community Church. Survivors include her husband, Claude E. Athearn of Union; two daughters, Mrs. John (Claudette) Minott of SOuth Portland and Mrs. Thomas (Alpha) Foley of Rockland; two sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Marie) Senterre of Augusta and Mrs. Earle (Norma) Baker of Bridgwater, Nova Scotia; a brother, Clyde Vannah of Warren; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at teh Carpenter Funeral Home, 306 Broadway, Rockland. The Rev. Jonathan Paul will officiate. Burial will be in teh Achorn Cemetery.
