BELFAST — Marjorie Eleanor Butler, nee Simmons, died July 29, 2007. She was born Nov. 3, 1921, on the Simmons Farm on Route 3 in Belfast, daughter of Charles and Myrtle (Nash) Simmons. Marge attended the Hayford School for eight years and graduated in 1939, from Crosby High School. Many of her favorite memories have been of her life on the family farm, growing up there, then raising her children there. Marge had many interests throughout her life. She was a great dancer and loved dancing. All her life she was an avid card player. She joined the Belfast Curling Club in the early 1960s and earned several trophies as proof of her prowess. Marge was a warden for Belfast polls during too many elections to count. She was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for many years and a dedicated volunteer at TallPines Health Care Facility for nearly two decades. Once her children were all grown, Marge took up aerial photography — which changed her life and revealed a new talent. In recent years she was active in the local Law Enforcement Association. Marge is best known for her loving nature. She saw something special in each of her many friends and all of her family members. Marge had a large and loving family. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, John, who was killed in World War II; brother, Allen, sister, Ruth; first husband and father of her two sons, Paul Vosburgh Sr.; and beloved granddaughter, Melissa Jo Vosburgh. Surviving family members include her husband of 47 years, Stanley Butler; son, Paul Vosburgh Jr. and wife, Becky; son Charles Vosburgh and wife, Mari; daughter, Marian Butler and husband, Gary Skigen; stepdaughter, Judy (Butler) Anaman; grandchildren, Kimberly (Vosburgh) Nardone and husband, Dennis, and Patric Skigen; step grandchildren, Nathan and Samantha Anaman; great-grandchildren, Blair, Brooke, Ryan and Tyler Johnstone; great-great-grandchildren, Zachary Bryant, Taylor Yeaton, and Trinity and Jade Haber.
