| LifeSketch | Rockland Courier Gazette. Dec. 22,1936] Mrs. Mary A, Ames. Mary A., widow of George A. Ames, died Dec. 18 after a brief illness of pneumonia. She was a daughter of J. Amyntas and Fidelia (Hilt) Gushee, married while still a young girl to George A. Ames. Five children were bom of this union, four of whom are still living. Mrs. Ames was bom and has always lived in Appleton. and for many years had been a frequent contributor to The Courier Gazette both in news items and poems. After the death of her husband 11 years ago, the son Edward carried on the farm work until two years ago, when he married and went to Columbus, Ohio to make his home. Since that time she had stayed on the home farm with hired help. The surviving children were all present at the funeral services which were held at the Baptist Church, Rev. H. Nutter officiating. Mrs. Ames\' four nephews acted as bearers. She was buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery. The surviving children, Alvah E. Ames, Union, Lulie, wife of Capt. Walter S. Hill, Ludlow, Mass., Edward S., Columbus, Ohio and Richard J. of Springfield, Mass. The abundance of flowers were very beautiful, coming from friends and relatives and the companies for which the boys work. | |
