Tompkins, Devlin, Manford 95, of Jackson, MI, went home to be with his Lord, Monday, January 2, 2017 at his home peacefully under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Care Hospice. Mr. Tompkins was the son of Marion and Stacy (Devlin) Tompkins, born November 20, 1921 in Jackson, MI. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Tompkins; his parents; brother, Jerry Tompkins. Dev is survived by four children, Susanne (Bob) Kingsley, Nancy Racine, Christina (Tom) Williams and Michael (Lynn) Tompkins; five grandchildren, Scott, Jeff, Stacy, Charley, and Lisa; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Dev was a graduate of Jackson High School and Jackson Community College with his Associate Degree. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 1946. Dev retired from Foote & Jenks with 30 + years of service, and from Dawn Food Products with five years of service. He was a humble man, beloved by many, a true friend to many from every walk of life. Dev was truly devoted to his family and was a champion to his children. He was a master woodworker, who rebuilt his home and created many works of art for his family and friends. Dev was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Dev was involved in Boys Scouts for 30+ years, where he received his Silver Beaver Award; volunteered with Greater Jackson Habitat for Humanity, and enjoyed Square and Round dancing with his beautiful wife.
