Stanley A. Vannah, 56, who operated a grocery store in Waldoboro 37 years, died early Wednesday at Miles Memorial Hospital. He was born at Winslow's Mills Oct. 6, 1910, son of Ernest and Florence Gross Vannah. Mr. Vannah was a member of Meenahga Grange, the chamber of commerce, the Fish and Game Association, Germania Lodge, IOOF, King Solomon\'s AF & AM, and Medomak Royal Arch Chapter, all of Waldoboro, and King Hiram Council of Rockland. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lois Donnell Vannah; two sons, Richard A. of Waldoboro and Stanley A. Jr. of Nobleboro; three daughters, Mrs. Joan Genthner of Bremen, and the Miss Susan A. and Sally A. Vannah, both of Waldoboro; three brothers, Lelan of Rhode Island, and Wilber and George, both of Winslow\'s Mills; seven sisters, Mrs. Raymond Simmons of Augusta, Mrs. Viola Husey of Winslow\'s Mill, Mrs. Helen Miller, Mrs. Jessie Kelley, Miss Besse Vannah, Mrs. Annie Jenkins and Mrs. Madeline Benner all of Thomaston; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Waldoboro with the Rev. Edgar G. Higgins officiating. Interment was in the German Lutheran Cemetery. Lincoln County News: October 27th, 1966 |
