LifeSketch Details below were found on the following website: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/208358810/philip-maynard-pease BELFAST — Philip M. ‘Phil’ Pease, 85, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 22, 2020, at his home with his kind and devoted companion, Carol Richardson, daughter and son-in-law Katrina and Tim Oakes, and son Bruce Pease providing comfort and loving support. Born in Warren Sept. 28, 1934, to Harold and Hazel Burkett Pease, Phil met his wife, Ernestine (Teenie) Pease, when he was 15 years old. Phil and Ernestine married Jan. 1, 1952, and were married for 50 years until Teenie’s death June 22, 2002. Phil worked for Logan Painting Co. in Portland until he moved his family to Pacifica, Calif., in 1965. Phil was a union painter and avid motorcycle rider and belonged to a motorcycle club in Pacifica by the name of‘ Roman Wheels. Phil owned three Harley Davidson motorcycles (Hogs). In 1966 Phil rode his Harley, with Teenie as a passenger, from California to Maine and back to California. He loved telling stories about his motorcycle club and riding adventures. Phil loved driving cars and driving them fast. In his early years he drove stock cars, but he crashed during a race, sustained a leg injury, and Teenie told him he needed to focus on family. If you knew Phil casually, or knew him well, it would become clear he loved to dance and loved music. Phil didn’t play a musical instrument, but if you asked him to play the spoons he would demonstrate his keen sense for the rhythm of the tune. In 1968, Phil decided his family should return to Maine, where he started a business that he and Teenie named Rainbow Painting Inc. In addition to the commercial and residential painting business, Phil opened a retail paint store located in West Rockport that was primarily managed by Teenie. Phil’s business encompassed countless residential jobs and large commercial projects. Rainbow Painting also expanded to provide sandblasting and recoating services. Some of Phil’s more notable projects included sandblasting projects at Delta Chemical, Stinson Canning, Central Maine Power hydro projects, as well as Hydro Projects for New Hampshire Public Power. Rainbow Painting completed the final painting of the original Samoset Hotel in Rockport prior to the magnificent and historic structure burning to the ground Oct. 13, 1972. At its height, Rainbow Painting employed nearly 50 people. In later years, after residing in Florida, Phil and Teenie returned to the area and built their beautiful home in Union with assistance from nephew Bob Emery. Phil then started yet another company he named Phil Pease for Painting. Phil loved boating. He and his family spent many hours and days fishing and boating on a boat he named Rainbow that was moored in Rockport Harbor for nearly eight years. Phil’s dearest friend for 32 years was Donald Grindle, husband of Mildred Grindle-Orne (sister-in-law). There are many cherished family stories regarding the exploits and adventures of Phil and Donald. They supported one another in good times and bad throughout those many years. As a businessman and family man, Phil lived his life with integrity, determination and a deep hunger for adventure. Phil was predeceased by sons Dana Pease, David Pease; spouses Ernestine Pease, Mable Pease; brothers Harold Pease, Earl Pease, Leroy Pease, David Pease; sister Vera Morse; and grandsons Jeffrey Oakes and Stephen Oakes. Phil is survived by his companion, Carol Richardson, of Freedom; daughter and son-in-law Katrina and Tim Oakes of Lincolnville; son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Kristie Pease of West Richland, Wash.; grandson Daniel Oakes of Rockland; granddaughter Paige Lanham of Bellingham, Wash.; sister Ruth Emery of Warren, fraternal twin sister Phylis Young of Modesto, Calif.; brother Ken Pease; as well as six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In light of recent social events, and in an effort to keep all members of our community safe and healthy, no services for Phil will be held at this time. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, at Fairview Cemetery, Patterson Mill Road, Warren. To share a memory or condolence with the Pease family, visit their Book of Memoires at bchfh.com. Arrangements are with Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland. (Village Soup 3/23/2020)
