Notizen - She was "Grandma" to me - the only one I ever knew. Although she was my mother's aunt, she raised her from age 1. She lived with us in Hayward, CA, until just a year or two before her death and I remember her well. She taught me to knit and crochet, and how to sing simple German songs. She was a wonderful cook and I still remember her home-made bread. I also remember visiting her home in Chicago. It was a three-story Victorian home on a brick street. You walked down a flight of stairs to get from the raised street to the yard in front, then up a flight of stairs to the first floor. She used to fix us salads of lettuce, mayonaise and sugar! They weren't exactly healthy, but they were delicious. She was married to Ed Heyn, who was a china painter. They had one daughter - Aurora.
Sie war "Oma" für mich - die einzige, die ich jemals kannte. Obwohl sie die Tante meiner Mutter war, zog sie sie ab dem 1. Lebensjahr auf.
