Mrs. Mattie E. Simmons, 76, widow of Albion A. Simmons, died at her home in Friendship on Monday. Born at Waldoboro on June 10, 1880, she was a daughter of Roscoe and Cora Genthner Winchenbach but had resided in Friendship for the past 53 years. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church and was a member of the Pythian Sisters, WAFD and the Ladies Aid. Surviving are two sons, Lester and Ralph Simmons, both of Friendship; three sisters, Mrs. Patrick Lineen of Baldwinville, Mass., Mrs. Willie Pottle and Mrs. Willie Wotton, both of Friendship; four brothers; Frank B. Winchenbach of Friendship, Roscoe Winchenbach of Jamacia Plains, Mass., Samuel and Thomas Winchenbach, both of Waldoboro; also seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held this afternoon from the Friendship Methodist Church under the direction of James A. Waltz Funeral Home. The Rev. David Bell officiated and interment was in the Village Cemetery.
