    • Hans R Eckart of Minneapolis, who is visiting on Maui can't exactly answer that, but he ran tell how it feels to come back to family and friends after having been given up as dead. Mr. Eckart left Hawaii in 1906. a year after the death of his wife, and has been unheard from by his sisters and brothers and his daughter. now Mrs. Alice Monte of Honolulu, since 1908. On January 31 of this year he arrived in Honolulu aboard the Lurune and presented himself at the door of his sister, Mrs. S. E. Lucas of Honolulu, to ask if she knew "Hans Eckart." She replied that he was her brother and upon being asked what bad become of him she said he was dead. Then taking a closer look at her interrogator she recognized him as the supposedly dead Hans. When Mr. Eckart left Hawaii In 1906 his daughter was only 2 years old. so she naturally did not recognize him upon his return. Born in Honolulu - Mr. Eckart was born in Honolulu and came to Maui as a child with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Maximilian Eckart. When the Eckart estate was divided among their children in 1922 Hans was believed dead as no member of the family had heard from him since 1908. and his share of th estate was awarded by the court to his daughter. Now he has returned to visit his family and is being royally welcomed by those who had mourned him. He is visiting on Maui with two brothers, William and Fritz Eckart, and two sisters, Mrs. Meta Teshima and Mrs. Frank C. Sylva. Another sister. Mrs. Rhea Miller of Hawaii, arrived from the Big Island to meet him here. Plan Pearl Cily Reunion On Thursday the entire clan Is leaving for Honolulu where a big family reunion luau is to be held at Pearl City at the home of Mrs. Yette Austin, another sister. There are four sisters now living in Honolulu, Mrs. Lucas. Mrs. Austin, Mrs. A. H. Langraf and Mrs. May Minor. Since leaving Hawaii Mr. Eckart has worked in Seattle, Minneapolis, New York and Newport News. In 1918 he returned to Minneapolis and entered the trucking business, in which he is still engaged. He plans to return to the mainland toward the end of March.
