  WILLARD J. DICKEY Feb. 26, 1922 - Dec. 7, 2008 MISHAWAKA - Willard J. Dickey, 86, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, Dec. 7. Willard was born on Feb. 26, 1922, in Jasonville, IN, to John Monroe and Ellen Mae (Borders) Dickey. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Florence Kirkwood; brothers, Max and Harold Dickey; and granddaughter, Jami Jones. On January 4, 1943, in Jasonville, IN, he married Gertrude Allen, who preceded him in death on March 9, 1997. Surviving are his daughters, Mary Ellen Jones of Sherman, TX, and Naomi La Monds of Mishawaka; sons, James (Sharon) Dickey of Louisville, OH, and Charles Dickey of Mishawaka; 10 grandchildren, Robert Jones, Michelle Minton, Cheryl Plauche, Shannon Michele, Shawn La Monds, Sara Fonseca, Dawn Dickey, Todd Dickey, Kim Zwierchowski and Stephanie Basham; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dean Dickey of Jasonville, IN, and Jack Dickey of Shelburn, IN; a brother-in-law, Rev. Edgar (Phyllis) Allen of Osceola; and a sister- in-law, Ruth (Charles) Van Dusen of Mission, TX. Willard came to the Michiana area in 1945, coming from Jasonville, IN. He worked as a frame man at Elmer's Body Shop in Elkhart for 16 years, then at McKinley Frame in Mishawaka for a year before he retire d in 1979. Visitation will be held today, Dec 10th, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec 11th, at 1 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, with Rev. Warren Kirkwood and Rev. Larry Lund officiating. Burial will follow at Ferrisville Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family would like to give a special thank you to The Center for Hospice, Sandra Morrow, his caregiver and close friend, for all of their love, caring and support.
