Oktober 1917 in East Liverpool, Ohio, als Sohn von William McKinley und Edith (Bennett) Martin geboren. Sein Vater starb unerwartet, als Bill fünf Jahre alt war. William "Billy" Raymond Winslow, 76 of Friendship, went home to be with the Lord and his wife Beverly, on August 21, 2023. Billy was born on June 20, 1947, to Robert W. and Dorothy F. (Sidelinger) Winslow in Rockland, Maine. Billy grew up in Thomaston and attended local schools, graduating from Georges Valley High School in 1965. Before enlisting in the United States Air Force, Billy married Beverly May Benner on August 27, 1966. He served from 1966 to 1970 as a Sgt. Crew Chief on a KC-135 Tanker in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas. After being honorably discharged in 1970, Billy went on to college for real estate, taking classes at night so he could work and provide for his family. Billy worked several different jobs in his life. He was a clam digger, lobsterman, he worked at the Button Factory in Waldoboro, as a supervisor at Crowe Rope in Warren for many years and eventually retired from Fisher Engineering in Rockland. Even after he retired, he still enjoyed lobstering his 5 traps and giving the lobsters to his family to enjoy. Billy took many day trips with a friend to dig clams and would tell his family about the adventure when he returned, always laughing because he dug the most clams. Billy enjoyed going dancing every Saturday night with his wife Beverly and friends to see the Country Wranglers. They would travel from dance hall to dance hall to see them. He also loved hosting cookouts and would put on the biggest fireworks display. Billy cherished his garden and would spend hours in it, being sure to plant the peas by April 1st so they would be ready by the 4th of July. For many years, he grew so many vegetables that he had to give them away. He enjoyed using his John Deere tractor and would often make up projects so he could spend time on it. Billy enjoyed going for rides in his new Chevy Colorado with his dog Sheba and would tell you something new that he'd discovered about his truck almost every time he stopped to visit. Billy and Sheba were inseparable. Anywhere he went, Sheba was by his side. He would "take Sheba out to breakfast" every Sunday morning and sometimes other days as well. Days that they didn't go to breakfast, he would make her breakfast so they could eat together. Billy loved driving down around the shore daily to check on what boats were out to haul and would always say "Sheba wanted to go for a ride". He loved spending time with his family and would light up any time one of them stopped to visit. Billy loved listening to the "old style" country music like Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam and Creedence Clearwater Revival and would often sing along with the songs. Billy is predeceased by his wife Beverly of 49 years, his parents, his sisters Virginia "Ginny" Cunningham, Vida Kelley and Cynthia "Cindy" Chase, his brother Bobby Winslow Jr., father in-law Dennis Benner, mother in-law Frances Benner, brother in-laws Charles "Jr" Benner, Arnold Benner, George Barter and Joel Maxcy. Billy is survived by his daughters Melissa Olson and her husband Johnny of Cushing and Rebecca "Becky" Glidden and her husband Dusty of Cushing, grandchildren Michael Hoffses and his wife Jessica of Cushing, Victoria Cormier and her husband Michael of St. George, Chelsea Ennis and her husband Dan of South Berwick, Nicole Glidden of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Dustin Glidden of Cushing, great grandchildren Greyson and Emmett Cormier of St. George, Nova and Hudson Hoffses of Cushing and Weston Ennis of South Berwick, sister Nancy Grover and her husband Alton of Cushing, sister in-laws Alwilda "Diddy" Maxcy and Dorothy Benner both of Friendship, as well as his best friend and companion, Sheba. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. | 7056 | WILLIAMSBURG - Richard Marshall Ludwig, of Williamsburg, Va., 88, died Dec. 19, 2019. He was the son of Edward Ingraham and Florence Marshall Ludwig, both deceased. A native of Gardiner, he was a chemical engineering graduate of the University of Maine. He pursued a career in the pulp and paper industry prior to his retirement in 1993 from International Paper Co., where he had been vice president of engineering and logistics. Before that, he had been a long-time executive with Hammermill Paper Co. of Erie, Pa., until the merger of that firm with International Paper in 1986. Mr. Ludwig, a life-long Episcopalian, was most recently a member of Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg. He was active in the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI), having served as a national director, was elected a TAPPI Fellow, and was the recipient of a Leadership and Service Award by that organization. He was also a former president of the Board of the Erie (Pa.) Philharmonic Orchestra. He was the former chairman of the Membership and Gifts and Bequests Committees of the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation. He was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and had been director of the Colonial Capital Branch of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (A.P.V.A.) in Williamsburg. A history buff, he was a volunteer interpreter at Colonial National Historic Park in Yorktown, Va., Historic Jamestown for Preservation Virginia, and a concert usher and historic guide at Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg. He was a member and treasurer of the residents council and president of the computer club at Williamsburg Landing, Inc., the retirement community where he and his wife Margery had lived since 2004. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Margery Carter Williams Ludwig; three daughters, Madge Ludwig of Centre Hall, Pa., Helen Nelson Ludwig and her fiancé, Stephen Spence of Charlottesville, Va., and Elizabeth Marshall Ludwig Radovsky of Mechanicsville, Va.; three granddaughters, Ariana Moussavi, Jamie Marshall Williams, and Sarah and her husband Viktor Osipov; as well as two great-grandchildren, Olivia Ariana Ludwig and Dylan Carter Ludwig; two sisters Mary Ludwig DeBoer of Lacey, Wash., and Helen Ludwig Jiracek of St. Michael, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Edward Arthur Ludwig, and his wife, Nancy Loomis Schneller Ludwig, of Thomaston, died in 2018. Richard was greatly loved by them all. No memorial service will be held, with burial at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va. at a later date. September 1932 in Warren als Sohn von Benjamin und Bertha Moody Perry geboren. Er besuchte Schulen in Warren, diente im Koreakrieg, war Milchbauer und hielt Hühner. Er arbeitete mit seinem Schwager Henry Conary an Ausgrabungen bis zu Henrys Ruhestand. Im September 1990 heiratete er Janet Kinney Dyer, und 1991 erfüllte sich sein Traum, als er sein eigenes Ausgrabungsunternehmen gründete. | 7060 | WILLIS, Geraldine (Jerre) Age 74, of Hamilton, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at 5:43 a.m. at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. She was born in Hamilton the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Lotz) Thieman. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School and received a BA degree in English at Miami University. On October 18, 1952, she married Richard T. Willis in Hamilton, he preceded her in death in 1990. She was a kindergarten, first, and third grade teacher. She began her teaching career at Holy Cross Lutheran Church School, Polk Elementary and Fillmore Elementary where she retired. She was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church, a member of The Friendly Divers Circle and Bible Study Groups. She was past president and member of the Metropolitan Womens Club, past president and member of AAUW , a foundling member of the New London Hills Club, a member of the Kindergarten Screening Team and an avid bridge player, playing with several bridge groups. She was a recipient of "Teacher of the Year" in 1991-1992 at Fillmore Elementary and was a recipient of a proclamation from the mayor proclaiming "Jerre Willis Day in Hamilton" in 1994. Jerre was also a member and swimmer of Westovers Bever Wellness Center. She was a volunteer at Ft. Hamilton Hospital, Westover Retirement Community, Heritage Elementary and was a member of Westover Service Guild. She is survived by her son, Andy Willis and wife Kristen of West Chester and her daughter, Linda Willis of Port Clinton, Ohio and two grandchildren, Richard and Kathryn Willis. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the at Weigel Funeral Home, with Rev. John Eshelman officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. | 7065 | WINSLOW - Richard "Dick" Eugene Grenier, 83, passed away on May 17, 2019, at Goudreau's Retirement Inn in Winslow. He was born March 9, 1936, in Waterville, the son of Wilbrod and Cecile (Libby) Grenier.He was educated in Waterville and Winslow schools, class of 1953. He was a veteran who proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1955 to his honorable discharge in 1957. Dick was employed by Keyes Fibre for 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Waterville. He enjoyed camping at Cathedral Pines for 50 years where he met many new friends who became his camp family and even naming a road to honor him. He loved driving the back roads and going to Big Jim. In his younger days he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and other outdoor activities. He enjoyed spending time with his families and was very proud of his two granddaughters, Stasha and Tia, who enlisted and graduated as Master Sargent from the Young Marines. He is survived by his sister, RaeJean (Grenier) Beane and her partner Dickie Pullen and three nephews Richard, Rusty and Roger all of the Bingham area; two stepsisters, Theresa and George Savage of Sidney and Alice and Skip Sherburne of Milfred; one uncle, Raymond Grenier of Winslow; his five daughters Dawn Bilodeau of Boynton Beach, Fla., Tammy and Buster Hopkins of Plymouth, Maine, Catharine Nelson of Canaan, Connie and Red Laliberte of Sidney and Lori Barnard of Winslow; his nine grandchildren April McCaslin of Randolph, Nicole Grenier of Newport, Tyler Chase of Lisbon Falls, Patricia and Christopher Gutierrez of Owensboro, KY, Sister Christina Marie of Valley of Our Lady Monastery in Prairie du Sac, Wisc., Elizabeth Nelson of Canaan, Keisha Baldwin of Skowhegan, Tia Baldwin of Winslow and Stasha Baldwin of Sidney; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Dianne; his parents Wilbrod and Cecile, his stepfather, Lionel (Ned) Betit; a daughter, Cynthia and his son-in-laws Paul Bilodeau and Ronald Nelson. He was born in Appleton on July 29, 1934, the son of Elwin and Mary (Meservey) Mank. Frank attended Appleton schools, graduating from Appleton High School. He worked doing various jobs, retiring as a manager for the state of Maine. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching. He belonged to several snowmobile clubs and was active in camper groups. While living in Washington, he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. For the past 10 years he has lived in Winslow and spent winters in Zephyrhills, Fla. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Christine (Chapman) Mank. Surviving are a son, Timothy A. She was born July 15, 1943, in Portland, ME to Linwood Hammond and Edwina (Hackett) Fletcher. Linda was a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1961. She taught horseback riding lessons for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping, fishing, horseback riding, knitting, and visiting with friends. Linda was predeceased by her parents; stepfather Cliff Fletcher; brothers, William and Donald Hammond. Higgins and Minnie (Webber) Higgins. She graduated from Cony High School in 1944. In 1948, she married Kenneth T. Mank of Farmingdale. She worked for Gardiner Oil for 10 years and as a Secretary for the VA Medical Center at Togus for many years. She was a former member of Winter Street Baptist Church. At her death, she was again a member of the Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, where she had attended as a child and started her married life. Arlene was predeceased by her infant sister, Constance, and sisters Evelyn Jewell, Rachel Whittier and Beverly Burton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth T. Mank, of Winthrop; daughter Patricia and husband Walter Guild of Farmingdale; son Richard and wife Joan of West Gardiner; daughter Judith A. Mank of Winthrop; sisters Madelyn Hunt of Gorham, and Ruth Jones of Weeks Mills; grandson Michael and wife Ruth, and great-grandson Joseph of Virginia; grandson Matthew and wife Alissa of Augusta; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. | 7069 | WINTHROP - Steven Robert Winchenbach, 73, aus Winthrop, ist am 23. November 2018 verstorben. Nach einem langen Kampf gegen Demenz und Morbus Wegener erlag er schließlich seiner Krankheit. Steve wurde am 9. Oktober 1945 als Sohn von Robert und Flora Winchenbach in Rockport geboren. Als Kind, das gegen Hirnkrebs kämpfte, war er als „Little Stevie“ bekannt, überlebte aber nach langem Kampf und der Unterstützung seiner Gemeinde wie durch ein Wunder. Er machte 1963 seinen Abschluss an der Rockland District High School und besuchte anschließend das Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute. Als aktiver Pfadfinder pflegte Steve seine Liebe zum Jagen, Campen und Angeln. Als Erwachsener arbeitete Steve auf dem Bau, für die Tischlerei seines Vaters und bei Snap-On Tools, bevor er Wink's Mini-Mart in Livermore, Maine, eröffnete. Steve arbeitete weiterhin als Tischlermeister und später als Wartungsleiter bei Androscoggin Home Health, bis er 2012 in den Ruhestand ging. Er widmete sich weiterhin seinen Hobbys, der Holzbearbeitung, dem Puzzeln, dem Modellieren und dem Spielen mit seinem Hund Kaylee, bevor er in ein betreutes Wohnen zog. Steve hinterlässt seinen Sohn Todd und seine Frau Deena mit den Enkelinnen Ava und Leah aus New York, zwei Schwestern, Elaine mit den Söhnen Alan und Kevin und Linda mit den Töchtern Marianne, Kathy und Rachel, alle aus Maine, seine beiden Tanten Doris Prock und Jean Winslow sowie weitere Nichten und Neffen und seine Ex-Frau Beverly, mit der er 31 Jahre lang verheiratet war. Vor Steven starben bereits seine Eltern Robert und Flora, seine Schwester Cheryl, sein Bruder Bruce und seine zweite Frau Shirley Ann Dudley. Die Trauerfeier fand im Gracelawn Memorial Park statt. Warren hatte eine lange und abwechslungsreiche berufliche Laufbahn, beginnend mit seinem ersten Job in den späten 50er Jahren bei Guilford & Co. bis hin zu T.P. Caulkin, H.A. Loomer und John Wood Ltd. Warren war sechzehn Jahre lang bei diesem in Toronto ansässigen Unternehmen für gewerbliche Warmwasserbereiter beschäftigt und wurde zum Bezirksleiter befördert. Danach arbeitete er 12 Jahre lang für die Dartmouth Marine Shipyard und ging in den Ruhestand, nachdem er 8 Jahre lang für Bob's/Bluebell Taxi Co gefahren war. Warren war ein geselliger Mensch, lebenslustig, großzügig und immer bereit, eine helfende Hand zu reichen. Warren war an der Förderung lokaler Sportarten in der Gemeinde beteiligt, zu denen auch Hockey und Baseball gehörten. Er liebte es zu angeln, zu jagen und ein oder zwei Partien Golf zu spielen. Selbst als er mit seiner kürzlichen Krankheit kämpfte, brachte er seine Familie und das Personal des St. Vincent Nursing Home mit einem kleinen Witz und einem Lächeln zum Lachen. Die Familie möchte sich bei den Mitarbeitern von SVNH für die mitfühlende Fürsorge bedanken, die Warren in den letzten Monaten zuteil wurde. Eine Feier des Lebens findet am Donnerstag, den 3. November, von 13 bis 15 Uhr in der Somme Branch 31 Legion und von 16 bis 18 Uhr im Buffalo Club, 2 Wentworth St., Dartmouth, statt. Spenden zum Gedenken an Warren können an das Saint Vincent's Nursing Home für das Musiktherapieprogramm geleistet werden. Keine Blumen auf Wunsch der Familie.
