| 3966 | Leonhard Hörpel wurde am 12. Februar 1887 in Wiesbaden geboren.

| 3983 | LifeSketch "PORT CLYDE — Betty Ann Libby, 84, of Port Clyde, passed away, Thursday, December 3, 2020, after succumbing to her long battle with heart disease. Betty was born June 1, 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts to August and Beatrice (Claytor) Kobs. She graduated from Camden High School where she played basketball and was involved in many other activities. She had a long career as a Bookkeeper and worked for many local businesses, including Moody's Car Dealership. Betty also managed the Dip Net Restaurant in Port Clyde for many years where she was famous for her broccoli sandwiches. You can still see the original menu there today! On June 13, 1954 she married Roger Libby and together they founded and ran a successful commercial fishing fleet where she managed the books and finances. Betty enjoyed traveling and the outdoors. When their children, Glen and Gary, were young, they would spend most every weekend in the summer camping on the islands around Muscongus Bay, along with several other families. Her children state that "Mom could always be counted on for an adventure with her sons." Whether it was a hike around the islands, up Mount Battie, or traveling up and down the coast of Maine in pleasure boats. She learned how to plot a course using a chart, protractor, and compass, as there was no radar in those days, and they always arrived at their destination despite the fog. Betty also created and managed Glen and Gary's Cub Scout Troop when they were growing up. Later in life, Roger and Betty enjoyed spending the winters in Florida, and the Virgin Islands with several friends from Maine that traveled down there altogether. Betty was a beloved fixture in the Port Clyde community. She, along with Roger, were Harpoon Restaurant regulars. (their high school pictures are up on the wall in the barroom). Their house was a Port Clyde destination for family and friends for many years where she loved to host, (especially for the holidays), cooking, and entertaining guests with her guitar. Predeceased by her parents; her sisters Frances Kobs Oliviere and Peggy Spaulding; her grandchildren Kristopher Coulter, and Jason Lee Morris; and her daughter in-law Kim Libby; she is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roger of Port Clyde; her sons, Glen Libby and his partner Claire Bissell, and Gary Libby, all of Port Clyde; her grandchildren Jason, Justin, Jenna, Jessica, Kari, Dan, and Leslie, along with many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Betty will be missed greatly, but the memories of her, and her love for the outdoors and traveling, will live on in her children and grandchildren. A graveside service is planned for the spring of 2021 and will be announced. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations in Betty's memory be made to: Donate Life at New England Donor Services, 60 First Ave., Waltham, MA 02451. Navy serving in the Mediterranean Sea on an Air Craft Carrier during the Korean War. Returning to the States, he married Betty Kobs on June 13, 1954. Roger spent much of his career as a truck driver. Starting as a 'milk man', he worked his way up, eventually driving for Martin Marietta Corporation for many years before retiring. Always called to the ocean, Rogers dream was to be a fishing captain. For many years he and Betty ran a successful commercial fishing fleet. He fished off and on through his life, and in recent years loved going out on the water with his sons. As a younger man, Roger was a member of the Thomaston Fire where he became Deputy Chief. | 3985 | LifeSketch - Conrad H. 'Wink' Winchenbaugh, Sr., 87, died Thursday, May 5th, 2016, at his daughter's home in Litchfield, following an extended illness. Born in Rockland, November 8, 1928, he was the son of Basil V. and Doris M. Burrows Winchenbaugh. He attended a one room school house on the Bog Road. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps, World War II veteran. February 5th of 1948, Wink married Mary E. Walker at Rockland. The couple made their home in Rockland all their married lives, where they raised a family of six boys and six girls. As a self-employed landscaper all of his career, Wink created immaculate lawns and gardens for many area homes and properties. Upon building of the new Rockland Congregational Church completed in 1965, Wink designed and installed the landscaping, which he maintained more than 52 years until retiring due to ill health in 2015. He prided himself in doing things the 'right way', mowing all his lawns, including the church, with a walk behind mower. He never liked the look of a lawn mowed with a rider. More than anything, he enjoyed being with family and large family gatherings that included the in-laws and everyone. He loved camping and fishing, particularly at Lake St. George and going for Sunday rides. He was a very kind and generous person, who put the needs of others ahead of his own, frequently stopping to chat with people and always asking after family members, giving what little he had to someone he thought needed it more. For many years he was interested in and followed local politics, penning many well thought out and eloquent Letters to the Editor in the local newspaper. Wink was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Mary, in 2001, and a son Paul E. Winchenbaugh, Sr. in 2010, as well as a brother, Albert Winchenbaugh, and a sister, Louise Hooper. He is survived by five sons, Conrad Winchenbaugh, Jr. and his wife Bonny of Rockland, Dale Winchenbaugh and his companion Lucena of Somerville, Joel Winchenbaugh and his wife Linda of Manchester, NH, Kevin Winchenbaugh and his companion Farrah Fortier, Brett X. Nach dem Bau der neuen Rockland Congregational Church, der 1965 fertiggestellt wurde, entwarf und gestaltete Wink die Landschaftsgestaltung, die er über 52 Jahre lang pflegte, bis er 2015 aus gesundheitlichen Gründen in den Ruhestand ging. | WINCHENBAUGH, Conrad Heyer Sr (I43986)
