LifeSketch Kenneth “Wig” Sterling Genthner, Sr. October 31, 2006 at 12:00 am Kenneth “Wig” Sterling Genthner, Sr., 91, devoted husband and loving father, passed away Oct. 6 at Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro, surrounded by his loving family. Kenneth was born Oct. 4, 1915, on Bremen Long Island, the son of Eugene, Sr., and Nancy Williy Genthner. He attended school on Bremen Long Island and made his career fishing from that location. At the age of 27, Wig joined the army and served during WWII and the Korean Conflict, returning to Bremen after the war. In 1946, he married Ruby Winchenbach and they spent the rest of their years living in Bremen, raising their children. Wig lobstered and clammed for many years, and later worked for Bath Iron Works as a painter. After several years with B.I.W., he returned to his love of the water and fishing, later lobstering with his son, Gary. Wig enjoyed hunting and cooking, his specialty was donuts. He loved spending time with his family, working in his vegetable and flower gardens, and being outdoors on the water. He was predeceased by his children, Kenneth Genthner, Jr., Ray Barry Genthner, and Bonnie Ann Poland Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Ruby Winchenbach Genthner, of Waldoboro; daughters, Faye Neild of Monroe, Kathy Miller of Waldoboro, and Wanda Bowden of Waldoboro; sons, Gary and Ricky Genthner of Bremen; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no public services. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Waldoboro. FSID G93H-MLW -
