Gammon, 90, died May 28, 2022 at the Sussman House in Rockport. He was born April 9, 1932 in Warren to Edwin Gammon and Mildred (Waltz) Gammon. Earl grew up in Warren and graduated from Warren High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Earl married his high school sweetheart Mary Berry in 1953. Earl was an electrician by trade, which he learned from his father who he followed to Bath Iron Works, where he worked for 43 years until his retirement in 1994. Earl also did many wiring jobs on the side, including his son and daughter\'s homes. During the 1960s Earl raised squash for the Medomak Canning Co. for their One-Pie brand. Earl also ran his rubbish route faithfully every weekend in Warren for 50 years. Keeping prices low or free. He would never ask customers for payment. Earl was a very giving man and would do anything for anybody. He was proud of his family, especially his Gammon and Martin family. Earl mowed and maintained numerous cemeteries for many years in Warren. Earl was very active in the community of Warren. He was a member of the Warren Tiger Engine Co., a member of White Oak Grange, a Warren selectman, and a MSAD 40 School Board member helping found the Medomak Valley High School building project. Earl was a proud and devoted lifetime member of the Warren Lodge IOOF No. 127 for 73 years, joining at the age of 17 and holding every office. He was a valuable member of helping start the hot dog stand at Warren Day, which moved to Union Fair where it remains successfully today. He would cook burgers, get supplies and do the books as he was a wiz at mathematics. He was also known for his expertise and love of cribbage and for staying at lodge until the wee hours of the morning to play just one more game. He would have your hand and his hand counted before the cards were on the table. Earl loved the family came in Lily Bay on Moosehead Lake. He helped his father, alongside many others, build the camp in 1955. There were only dirt roads at that time and access was rough. He and Mary loved spending time there and riding the back roads, especially the ones that weren\'t passable by car. Those were the ones he liked to see if he could go through! Much to Mary\'s chagrin. He also loved watching the Red Sox and traveling by car. He\'d go anywhere he could drive. He and Mary drove around the circumference of the United States on one trip among the many. Even in his later years, he went for a ride every day for coffee and a sandwich. And as everyone knows one of his favorite things was eating. He could eat a whole pie in one sitting if he could get away with it. Anyone who knew Earl would surely say he was witty and a jokester. He loved to tease everyone, especially the great grandkids. He would do anything for them. He was a good-hearted man who spoke his mind and would do anything for anyone in need. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Dana Gammon; sister, Avis Luce; daughter, Rebecca Jean Gammon. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary (Berry) Gammon, of Warren; son, Earl Mark Gammon and his wife, Carol, of Warren, their family Alicia and Terry Costa; daughter, Annette Johnson and her husband, Dana, of Waldoboro, their family Lindsey and Michael Ward, Grace, Clair, Gabriel, and Benjamin, Jill and Lance Lee, Cora and Ivy, Rachel Johnson and Dan Shay, Miley Black, and Aleah Shay; sister, Norma Abbott and her husband, John, of Ridgecrest, Calif.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Willis Berry, of Warren. Commander Groton was born in Waldoboro, Me., Jan. 18, 1847, and had lived in Brockton about 35 years, coming here from Boston. For the past 10 years he had been employed in the heel department at the George E. Keith Shoe Co. plant. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Percy L. Groton of Avon and C. Groton joined his company at Bermud Hundred, Va., and later the company was joined to Gen. Butler\'s forces at Dutch Gap, where it remained until the fall of Richmond. Later the company participated in the destruction of High Bridge, the battle resulting in the defeat of the Confederates and hastening the termination of the war. Corp. Groton was discharged from the service Nov. 14, 1865, five months after the surrender of Lee\'s army. Mr. Groton\'s father, William A. Groton, was also a soldier in the Civil war. He died in 1867 and was buried at sea. Mr. Groton joined Fletcher Webster Post in June, 1911, and was elected commander Dec. 3, 1919, and installed the following January. He served several times as chief marshal of the Memorial day parade. He was exceedingly patriotic and besides his membership in the G.A.R. held membership in the Sons of Veterans. His son, C. Staudt EAST MONTPELIER — Jane Marie Lindsey Staudt, of East Montpelier, better known as Janie, Mom, Omama, Grammy, and Aunt Janie, transitioned on July 15, 2025 ….as she lived…. in peace, love, comfort, and surrounded by family. Her family was the light of her life and her pride and joy. The gift of being with her in love, care, and deep intimacy these past years has been immeasurable to the whole family. Jane had a generous heart, a keen sense of humor, and saw the positive in all. She was a true lover of life and people and never met a stranger. Born in Wallingford, VT in 1933, to Walter and Erma Lindsey, she grew up in Vermont and Maine. Maine held a very special place in her heart, and she cherished her childhood summers there growing up with her cousin “sisters”; they were known as the “3 Musketeers”. Their stories of adventures and fun from the “best childhood ever” became part of the family lore. She and her cousins continued to proudly demonstrate their headstand prowess at family gatherings well into their 80s. She lost her only brother at a young age. Her long-term childhood dream to become a nurse led her to Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital where she graduated as a registered nurse. While she enjoyed all nursing areas, her primary love was pediatrics, and later geriatrics. She was a lifelong learner. Jane and her husband, Richard, lived as best friends and partners for 68 years. Theirs was a life of adventure and deep companionship, and they held hands throughout. They challenged and completed each other in their marriage in the best ways. They loved to travel with family and friends and visited 68 countries including all European countries; all States and provinces; Central America; South America; Thailand; most Caribbean islands; Egypt; China; Russia; Sicily; and a South African safari. Their most recent trip was a cruise with (almost) their entire family. Together, they founded, built, and ran Wedgewood Racquet and Fitness Club for 25 years. They enjoyed raising and showing Irish Wolfhounds. In later years, they cherished twenty years of sun-filled winter “get aways” at their St Croix beachfront condo with their close-knit community there. Jane had many interests - first and foremost was her entire extended family, friends, and all children and babies. With Richard’s support, they hosted exchange students and fostered children. Together they worked at a homeless shelter and became the Montpelier distribution point for whole food bulk ordering from Plainfield, the seeds of which eventually joined to form Hunger Mountain Coop. Jane was an active member and in leadership roles in the Vermont Doll Club. Just as with people there was never a doll, she met who was not worthy of love and TLC. She was an active member in Bethany Church and its leadership team for many years. To care for the annual influx of “leaf peepers” arriving to Montpelier to find “no vacancies”, she along with friends, opened their homes to ensure visiting guests had beds for the night and homemade breakfast in the morning. She enjoyed skiing, racquetball, fitness, musical theater, and shows. She and Richard actively hosted, organized, and avidly engaged in bridge club throughout their marriage. She loved the challenge of vocabulary, balancing books, games, and could never walk by a puzzle without stopping to fit in pieces. Jane is survived by Richard, her loving husband of 68 years and her beloved children and grandchildren: Erin Staudt of Andover, MA; Kevin Staudt of Hinesburg, VT; Tamara Staudt of Portland, OR; Megan Fitzpatrick of Haverhill, MA and Kristyn Bradley of Barre, VT; Grandchildren: Casey and Lindsey Fitzpatrick; Bianca Staudt and husband Jack; Parker Staudt; Grayson, Elizabeth, Aiden and Isabella Bradley and great grandchild Wesley. We find comfort knowing Jane’s legacy lives on through the lessons she taught us, the love she shared, and the memories we will cherish forever. In celebration of Jane today….smile at those you see; appreciate someone; help a stranger; volunteer; and….don’t be afraid to love! Rainbows are proof there are beautiful endings. Born in Warren Sept. 28, 1934, to Harold and Hazel Burkett Pease, Phil met his wife, Ernestine (Teenie) Pease, when he was 15 years old. Phil and Ernestine married Jan. 1, 1952, and were married for 50 years until Teenie’s death June 22, 2002. Phil worked for Logan Painting Co. in Portland until he moved his family to Pacifica, Calif., in 1965. Phil was a union painter and avid motorcycle rider and belonged to a motorcycle club in Pacifica by the name of‘ Roman Wheels. Phil owned three Harley Davidson motorcycles (Hogs). In 1966 Phil rode his Harley, with Teenie as a passenger, from California to Maine and back to California. He loved telling stories about his motorcycle club and riding adventures. Phil loved driving cars and driving them fast. In his early years he drove stock cars, but he crashed during a race, sustained a leg injury, and Teenie told him he needed to focus on family. If you knew Phil casually, or knew him well, it would become clear he loved to dance and loved music. Phil didn’t play a musical instrument, but if you asked him to play the spoons he would demonstrate his keen sense for the rhythm of the tune. In 1968, Phil decided his family should return to Maine, where he started a business that he and Teenie named Rainbow Painting Inc. In addition to the commercial and residential painting business, Phil opened a retail paint store located in West Rockport that was primarily managed by Teenie. Phil’s business encompassed countless residential jobs and large commercial projects. Rainbow Painting also expanded to provide sandblasting and recoating services. Some of Phil’s more notable projects included sandblasting projects at Delta Chemical, Stinson Canning, Central Maine Power hydro projects, as well as Hydro Projects for New Hampshire Public Power. Rainbow Painting completed the final painting of the original Samoset Hotel in Rockport prior to the magnificent and historic structure burning to the ground Oct. 13, 1972. At its height, Rainbow Painting employed nearly 50 people. In later years, after residing in Florida, Phil and Teenie returned to the area and built their beautiful home in Union with assistance from nephew Bob Emery. Phil then started yet another company he named Phil Pease for Painting. Phil loved boating. He and his family spent many hours and days fishing and boating on a boat he named Rainbow that was moored in Rockport Harbor for nearly eight years. Phil’s dearest friend for 32 years was Donald Grindle, husband of Mildred Grindle-Orne (sister-in-law). There are many cherished family stories regarding the exploits and adventures of Phil and Donald. They supported one another in good times and bad throughout those many years. As a businessman and family man, Phil lived his life with integrity, determination and a deep hunger for adventure. Phil was predeceased by sons Dana Pease, David Pease; spouses Ernestine Pease, Mable Pease; brothers Harold Pease, Earl Pease, Leroy Pease, David Pease; sister Vera Morse; and grandsons Jeffrey Oakes and Stephen Oakes. Phil is survived by his companion, Carol Richardson, of Freedom; daughter and son-in-law Katrina and Tim Oakes of Lincolnville; son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Kristie Pease of West Richland, Wash.; grandson Daniel Oakes of Rockland; granddaughter Paige Lanham of Bellingham, Wash.; sister Ruth Emery of Warren, fraternal twin sister Phylis Young of Modesto, Calif.; brother Ken Pease; as well as six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In den Bela-Lugosi-Horrorfilmen The Return of the Vampire und Scared to Death übernahm Varno ebenfalls größere Aufgaben. She was born at Dutch Neck, December 7, 1910, the daughter of Reverend Herman R. and Carrie Burns Winchenbaugh. As a teenager she moved with her family to Rockland where she graduated from Rockland High School in 1929. During her youth she frequently accompanied her father as he preached at various churches in the area, most notably South Thomaston and Spruce Head. Trained as a secretary, Mrs. Poletti worked for eight years for the M.B. and C.O. Perry Coal Company in Rockland. She met her future husband, Constantine Poletti, while he was stationed with the U.S. Navy in Rockland during World War II. In 1944 she followed him to Florida where she stayed with friends until they were married in Miami in May of 1944. Later they left Miami for Sturgeon, WI, where they remained for several months while the ship Mr. Poletti was assigned to was being built. During this time Mrs. Poletti worked as a secretary to a ship\'s officer until the ship left for New Orleans, LA, where the couple spent several months until the ship left for Oakland, CA. While in Oakland, Mrs. Poletti worked in the shipyard as a secretary for the Pacific Overseas Air Transport Command. Among her duties she wrote letters to servicemen overseas as dictated by an officer. During these months away from Rockland, Mrs. Poletti kept in touch with family, mostly her sister, Evangeline, also a trained secretary. Their letters were unusual as they corresponded to each other in shorthand. When Mr. Poletti\'s ship, the USS Pontotoc was commissioned in 1945 at San Francisco, departing shortly thereafter for active duty in the Pacific, Mrs. Poletti returned to Maine. When her husband returned after World War II they settled in Quincy, MA where he worked at the Boston Post Office and she was employed at a photo laboratory. During these years they acquired family property at Spruce Head Island where they spent summers.
